I think the DJ moniker can be fun if it's done in a cheeky manner, i.e. DJ Sprinkles, DJ W!LD or DJ Madskillz. I think it's hilarious, and it doesn't hurt that their music is actually good to boot 
Something like DJ Shah or DJ Dan just doesn't have the same ring to it. Scratch DJ Dan, that man is a legend...he can keep it.
