Any suggestions?

Try different relaxing methods at home with your loved one, look up on the internet different positions (yoga breathing techniques) that could help improve your blood flow; thus said, i've never been to a yoga class, but I find it very interesting.

Drugs? Try to keep an eye out for how your body reacts to stimulants, cocaine affects your nervous system, and MDMA is said to cause back pains.

Move out of NYC?

good luck, oh and stay away from jennypie...

I started to have upper back pain at the start of last week as well, it was small and I usually get cramps from going to the gym a lot but this one just wouldn't go away, at first the pain was a nuisance, but now it hurts more and more so I got a massage.

After the massage it felt a bit better almost like it was leaving me. I went to the gym the same day, did legs and biceps, and when I was doing standing curls, the pain came back harder then ever.

Now I can barely walk around, can't lean back to sit down and it takes me like 15 seconds to lie down properly.... Used the heating pad overnight, the pain numbed down a bit but damn this shit is so fucking painful. Haven't taken any pain relieving drugs yet, but I have work today and I think some are in order.

I hate skipping gym cause of this shit...

massages are good, tea is also a good additive to your diet

less coffee, more tea = caffeine fix regardless. the latter offers greater benefits.

Good luck.
I hope it isn't AIDs, long nights of neck induced trauma have brought about cases of HIV and AIDs.

and Kinetic - I can barely turn my head. Only when I have a patch or heating pad on is it okay to turn. I do see that when I pinch it myself, the pain kinda goes away. Only for a minute

p.s. Back pain sucks sooooooooooo bad..... it really fuking does!

I feel your pain! I have had it bad where I couldn't move my head or walk normally, lol. It really sucks but all u can do is try to get some anti-inflammatories and pain meds to help, but u just have to give it a few days to heal up

Find a reputable (certified) masseuse and get a massage. If you're in the USA it will run you around $60 for a 1 hour. They will fix any muscle problems you have.. If it doesn't help, the problem is probably with your skeleton and a pinched nerve somewhere in which case you need a few chiropractic adjustments. Go to a chiropractor to get straightened out. They are well worth the price.

Oh, and stop going to the gym for at least a week. You are only aggravating the problem.

I meant spine bitch..its part of the skeleton..isn't it? lols

Seriously..chiropractors rock. I went a few months ago and he popped the shit out of my back and neck..he said I really needed it and it felt so much better afterward. Don't go to a regular doctor. They will just give you painkillers and stuff. If the problem is a misaligned spine, they will want to do surgery or some crazy shit when a chiropractor could easily fix it with a series of simple adjustments.

Aleve and Advil aren't aspirin. Aleve is naproxen and Advil is ibuprofen. Both are way better painkillers that Tylenol.

they are also way better at destroying the liver. I still take them all the time since that's all the works for me, OTC

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-24-2009 20:10:

Actually Tylenol is known to be the worst for your liver. Ibuprofen rapes your stomach. Not sure about naproxen.

diazepam and oxycodone

I have had this same upper back pain before but it happened as soon as I woke up (assumed it was because my pillows are ridiculously flat). Yesterday I woke up fine but it wasn't until I looked down at work that it began hurting.

I couldn't sleep last night. It hurts so much more today.

I've tried taking magnesium which is supposed to promote muscle health and is apparently good for nerve impulses. (the natural way)

Been taking tylenol, Tiger Balm patches, used the heating pad this morning.

What a disaster - I need to feel better before the weekend and last time I had this pain it lasted a good 4 days.

Any suggestions?

You're taking Tylenol because you have some minor back pain. Great idea.

Go and see a masseur or a physiotherapist. They should charge you less than $100 for a one-off. Then check your mattress. My back was fucked a few years ago, so I slept on the floor one night and woke up back to normal. A sagging mattress can do a lot of damage.

Unless you're taking Aleve, Advil, Tylenol or Aspirin on a regular basis, your stomach/liver/kidneys will be fine. If you're an alcoholic, then it would probably be good to stay away from all of those (along with most other meds), especially Tylenol. Taking any of those for a few days in order to deal with back pain is not going to "hurt" you.

I'm not sure what kind of reaction your Mom might have had to Aspirin, but it's not a good idea to give little kids Aspirin in the first place, so perhaps that's why she gave you Tylenol as a kid. However, in the grand scheme of things, unless Tylenol is used in combination with other pain relievers it is pretty weak and has about zero anti-inflammatory ability. If you're really that scared about an adverse reaction, try a smaller dose and work your way up. True allergic reactions to either Aleve or Advil are fairly rare.

Illegal immigrants from Cuba usually don't.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Jun-25-2009 13:43:

Datt is the immigrant. I was born in hialeah which is probably an extension of Cuba lol.

I don't work full time so I can go to school full time. So no, no insurance.

I wish I had time to do all these things but yesterday the pain got so bad that I left work early. Thank god class was cancelled. But now I have work till 5, school till 8 and I have to pack for my trip tomorrow. Oh! And laundry. Ftl man, ftl.

It's not feeling any better.

P.s. my mom had a sick reaction to aspirin. Face swelling and everything.

edit - i bought advil but now i am scared to try. Ibuprofen isnot aspirin, but some persons with sensitivity or allergy to aspirin may have the same reaction to ibuprofen. (my mom)

And it says so on the bag -and the symptoms scare me. So I think I will stay away and keep to my tylenol.

I dont have time to deal w/ hives and facial swelling or rashes.
