Seriously though he could move! I liked his old stuff but the media screwed his personal life up, which kinda ruined it for me, yes i sometimes am a slave of the media......

I think you're misunderstanding me, I enjoy his music, and you can say I was upset when I found out he's not making music anymore, but I do not give a shit that he died... I mean I'm not glad he died, I didn't hope he would die, I just think it doesn't matter. Thousands of people die every day and we chose to not give a shit, so why the fuck does he deserve special treatment?
Fair enough. Indeed he doesn't deserve a special treatment, basically no-one does. But on the other hand, he already got that when he was still a child, so it would be strange if suddenly everybody would be quiet.
Also I think he brought many people joy with his music, and that is something which made him very different compared to you or me. Someone who was a talented as he was to me is different and I guess 'special' is not a wrong word too.
I guess you more angry with the media. You probably also are angry when others like a president, movie star or DJ get this special treatment, not?
Yea, I would be just as upset if any other "important" person died and their death would get a shitload of media coverage. Why? Because it doesn't do the person any good, the media just abuses it to have SOMETHING to fill their programs with. Individuals actually use the "very important person's" death for their own amusement as well. As much as people say they're sad he died and talk about how great he was, it seems to me they're just exploiting his death to have something to talk about. Let him rest in peace. There's very little media and individual attention to the deaths of innocent people such as victims of starvation or genocide that go on every day in many parts of the world, why? Because that shit actually makes us fucking sad, we don't wanna talk about that. Instead, we choose to talk about the death of MJ, not because we mourn, but because it's fun.
There might be exceptions to this, people who have been touched by Michael in some special way (no pun intended, ROFL) might actually be mourning his death, but 99% of the people who talk about it are just full of shit bastards exploiting a tragedy to those who were actually close to him.
Well its a matter of personal opinion what he did or did not do. Everyone has their own opinion of events.
As an artist and entertainer his influence spans almost every genre of music and his dancing is the blueprints for modern dance. Sorry but ill let the man rest as he is a legend of the music industry. After all you can count on 1 hand the artists that have had a global influence like Michael Jackson.
And yes I agree that the public is completely celebrity obsessed. BUT in defense of this phenomenon there are a lot of people who hear a certain song or artist and it changes their life. Its a deeply personal relationship even though the artist and the person do not know each other.
Yes starving children or war casualties should get more coverage but people dont want things that are too sad or graphic. One has to also figure that people want to be informed about the people that influenced them. Hense why theres usually so much coverage surrounding a celebrity such as MJ but your grandmother gets a blurb in the local paper.

and yeah if he touched kids (and well if your paying 25 million to keep someones mouth shut - when your already a couple of hundred mill in debt - well you probably are) - well then he probably should have been castrated a long time ago...
however yeah he did write a lot of great music that will still be remembered in a few hundred years time imo....thats why there is all the hoopla

I think Michael Jackson has had an incredible impact on music and entertainment, but I don't think he's any god.

MJ already died in the 90s in my opinion... I think he was already in the possession of the media after his successful albums
I got a lot of respect for the person behind the accomplishments. You don't see artists of our generation pursuing those feats. Not even our fabled and beloved kanye west can come close to MJ's standing (mind you it was mostly his work in the 80s that made him timeless). If you don't like his music -- I'm sure music you like was somehow inspired by him. Of course he wasn't a one man show, there were many others behind the success who were on top of their game in composition, production, etc. But all I'm saying is that, these days, you don't see that many artists who are so passionate and devoted about what they do anymore.

Jesus Christ, other people wrote and produced most of his songs. Jackson's success was propped up by a huge number of other people. Just think about his music videos, which gave him a massive commercial edge. The man could sing and dance very well, but that's it.
He was a well-marketed pop star, and it's stupid to compare him to a band like The Beatles, who sold more records and actually wrote and played their own songs.
