well, that would be the media's bad then wouldn't it?

IOW why would the media give two shits now that she's taken herself off the political map?...unless they truly hated her to begin with then i'd say it makes perfect sense to continue dragging her family through the mud. after all, political discourse and tabloid journalism seem to be one in the same when it comes to talking about Sarah Palin.

I guess that depends on one's point of view. As a shareholder I prefer that the media does whatever best capitalizes on the public interest. And while it may be one of humanity's less endearing traits, very many people seem to have a morbid fascination with watching public figures go down like the Hindenburg.

Good taste would suggest giving her a wide berth, but good business might well suggest hounding her even more aggressively to see what reaction the media can provoke next.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I've always found that depressingly fitting, if somewhat uncouth.

Yes, let's all blame the media on making a stupid person look extra stupid. Certainly isn't the stupid person's fault.

it's actually your fault that the media does what it does.

Simple- revenues in the media, especially print, are down. Sara Palin gossip sells... hence the wratcheting up of pointless hateful attacks long after the election. It's like all the Brett Favre shit in sports. I'm sick of hearing about every time he gets in his car or makes a phone call, but it's a proven fact that TV ratings go up when he's the topic of discussion, and like Ian Ziering did with his 90210 fame, the media outlets will ride the wave of success as long as they can.

I'm sorry, but the media and her/her PR people have been feeding each other for months. What sort of moron engages the father of her daughter's baby through the media? Or picks a stupid fight with David Letterman over a joke that everyone understood except her?

Also, I'll be surprised if this is the last we've seen of her, either.

Lastly, if she does disappear forever, it's probably in the best interest of the Republican party. Between her and W, they've become the party of the less educated/intelligent. Who amongst us really feels that their leaders should be at the same intelligence level as the common man? If that's the case, we could take anyone off the street to be the next President.

I don't know, but I'd feel better if the people leading this nation were more intelligent than I was, and I routinely don't feel that way.

the republicans have nothing. no war heroes or celebrities (such as reagan) that could bring them back. they're a laughing stock.

Everyone has their breaking point man. I'm not a Palin apologist, but do you have any remote understanding as to why she would call it a day? I agree with you that it's best for the GOP if she fades into the shadows because it's a fucking circus. As for W... the guy went to Yale and then graduated from Harvard business school; I wouldn't say he's on par with the "common man" intellectually- a lot of that is media template that's been pounded home for years now. I'm not saying he's Steven Hawking, but he sure as shit isn't Cletus from Dothan, Alabama. Obama can't speak without a teleprompter, and gave a stack of DVD's to Gordon Brown that can't be played in British DVD players... Imagine if that was W.

And continue to defend and rationalize her antics. Fascinating, really.

Dude... the spin is on again. You know I don't defend her "antics". I'm simply mentioning the obvious, overly hateful treatment she gets in comparison. I'm fucking glad she's out of politics!!! Sheesh. And on a side note, I stayed home on election day... I was so sickened by the ticket, I couldn't even vote for them as a "vote against Obama", which was my plan. So depressing.
