Those aren't super-sawwaves. They're SUPREME-sawaves.

mmm , nice
, I programmed this on my SH-201 , not any particular tune but just a few notes and plenty of filter cutoff.

*poke* hey ^^

1:25, sounds a bit similar

anyway, supersaw is the most generic type of trance out there and has been overproduced for far too long now. Atleast people to stand out and step away from it. There are however a few exceptions now days where supersaw has been used to create massive choons.

examples:
7 Skies & Static Blue - Central park (Nitrous Oxide remix)

Andy Blueman - Nyctalopia (Onova Remix) (HQ)

Super8 & Tab - Suru

and some other cool tracks like oceanic, hide away, time to rest (kandi remix), vol one (7 skies & static blue rmx) and more =)

Thought someone would have posted this one, it's still great:

Edit: O, Jaroo did while typing...well enjoy the vid anyways.

Look up some vids of the Roland JP8000 or JP8080 on you tube.

So it's just a synth...and people are bitching about how it isn't underground enough for them? Gimme a break FFS.

Well when it means that all the interesting, creative emotional synth programming that was previously in trance is now gone and we get this shit for 10+ years, yes it is important. You're an idiot.

are we in idiotseason? good grief

Well, I still didn't really get what "supersaw" is or better where that name comes from. Is it connected to a waveform/pattern of an oscillating curve?

So when a synth sounds "fuzzy" it's a product of using supersaw?

Posted by Jaroo on Jul-10-2009 12:01:

No, it's a specific waveform called SAWTOOTH wich is then transformed, tweaked or modified if you will. Hence the name = supersaw . I sadly cannot go deeper than that because I havent read any about it but you can try google or wiki for some more indept description. Correct me if I'm wrong to, that's just my interpetation of it.

Oh, that explains a lot why the Trance sound became so...uniform...in a lot of cases, especially after 2004. Thanks for the link!

Ironically hardly any of those tracks actually used a Roland JP 8000 Supersaw.

I thought the supersaw trend was dying out already by '04 anyway.

Posted by Jaroo on Jul-10-2009 13:38:

Not really. Alot of new sub genres have emerged with time and have made trance a very diverse genre since there are no real rules or limits to it's sound compared to many other!

You could easily say that trance is mostly a experimental genre mixture of every other out there, trying to define and create the perfect sound

Yeah only to be replaced by plucks and/or chopped vocals.

Posted by RebeL9 on Jul-10-2009 15:19:

there was one guy (Trance-MB i think) who posted a youtube link to a track a little while ago. I think the track was by Activa. That one had MEGA SUPERSAWZ! I killed my neighbours when i played it. The saws were too razorsharp.
