its a secret helix meant to confuse those that saw the last two matrix movies thinking that they were deeper than they actually were.

Plus it sounds cool.

only a few names on that flyer i recognize, which is good! i've been wanting to hear new music for a while now.

any age restrictions on this?

Posted by pointer on Jul-13-2009 06:06:

Yes, the first one will be 21+ over for all three days.

Next year, I'm looking to expand to 18 and over. I'm not sure I will ever want to do all ages.

lol

I like the name Convention - a lot!! - but the 101 part is unnecessary and complications/confuses, IMO...it obviously confused Billy and he's in the scene (He tells me all the alcohol he's drank and weed he has smoked has only made him smarter over time!!!!)

I'd just call this first one "Convention" and then just be basic in the future, "Convention 2010"

Easier to market (outside of teaching people that "Convention" is a music event and not a convention!). Easier to understand. It's pretty straight forward.

What are gonna name it when I go in 2021.

Convention 12012?

:-p

DT

PS. I don't work in marketing, lol.

PPS. I'm a hater, sorry!!! But this is more of just joking..honestly joking. But someone has to give issue with the name. This is TA!!!! I do really dig the name Convention. Can't believe no one else has realy thought of it first for a music event!!...if it hasn't already! I just think the simple name "Convention" is powerful on its own, and the "101" part waters it down a tad....makes the name a little overcomplicated.

PPPS. Make love, not war!

PPPPS. Hi there!

PPPPPS. What you looking at!

PPPPPPS. I am really bored.

btw, the naming convention (ha!) was done to distinguish the different ones that we will do. Although I didn't have the time to incorporate the famous SH-101 synth into this marketing campaign for the first one, the subsequent shows will have a famous piece of electronic synth drum machine gear as the focus of the show (through imagery and what not).

Taking us out 9 years essentially. I'll worry about what happens after that when we get closer to that actually happening.

But Convention 909... ??!?! You know that's just gonna be MASSIVE.

same with 808, and 303.

you got that good Voodeux

looking sharp, Bobtronik

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on Jul-13-2009 20:27:

i actually understood the name. i just felt that a good definition would help other people understand where the promoter is coming from (and it seemed to work).

the 101 part actually threw me off at first. i was thinkg HWY 101 for some strange reason.

oh well... back to business

**bonnggggg rippppp**

looks great Rob! git em

Convention 101 is smart, I think the issue with just naming it Convention would make it hard to distinguish itself from other things named Convention or have Convention in their title. So it has to have something alongside it, i'm not a lawyer but im guesssing there may even be trademark issues with naming it solely Convention. Also the word Convention into a search engine would bring up 1000s of things before this event, so you kinda have to add the subname for that reason as well. If I had a say, i'd work another detailing word or words after or before Convention, and then the series number. Maybe Electronic Music Convention 101. Folks will be like, "You goin to EMC 101 this year?" "Yah, dude fer sure i'm goin to EMC."

Unless, you guys want to go the Coachella route and turn it into a Rock and Hip Hop show with Electronic music on the side. But even if you did mix in some Rock and Hip Hop, you could add acts that have an Electronic Music focus, so EMC would still work.

EMC & EDC!!! Yeah, I like that.

E = MC ^2

maybe the title of a pre-party?

Electronic = Music * Coochie ^2
