For an hour and a half you can pay $15 to watch a movie, and just sit there. Or you can't pay three times that for 8 hours of dancing, live music, insane visuals! Awsome people, and lifetime memories. NOT BAD right!

Hahah I have no problem paying $50 for a good party but Im surprised thats what they START at - although this is still cheaper than the Montreal party scene.

I just would like to know the line up if Im spending that much cash - if it's DJs toronto sees frequently I'll have a hard time spending the money. I'll just stick with the parade - after all thats the experience that is truly unique to San Francisco.

San Francisco is an add on to our vacation that wasnt orignally in our budget and it's killing us (we are poor students lol).

PS. $7 (US) Fee lol... how do you guys afford to party?

Posted by Tosh on Jul-24-2009 17:30:

you really do have to pick your battles. honestly last year the parade was great, well once they parked i finally made it there and had a great time. It gets crazy!
The after party is differant. its more of a rave than a parade. If you like all the lights and visuals and all that its worth every penny! last year was crazy inside. But you like house so you might not find it anything different if you stay in a side room all night, either way i am positive it will be some big names in each room and a good time to be had. If you are going to get tickets dive in with faith before the lineup comes out to save money.
If you wait it will cost more. You can always sell them that day for the price you bought them for after it sells out everyone will be willing to pay that price

yeah... wait till the lineup is announced. with the (free)parade plus all the parties that will going on (Ruby Skye, 1015, Endup, etc...), you'll have a lot of "cheaper" options too.

but as a person helping out at the after party, would sure love to see you guys there

Im thinking we might want to hit up one of the smaller clubs. I would love to check out Ruby Skye or 1015... Ive always heard good things.

Thanks for all the suggestions Im really looking forward to this. And San Francisco seems like an AMAZING city, I wish we could stay longer than a couple days but I will DEFINITELY be back.

I definitely will wait until I see the lineup to even think about going up there from OC.

They charge you cause they can and they know people will pay whatever they put up.

lol if you're waiting on the lineup for one party to determine if it's worthwhile to come up, then you've obviously never been to lovefest

doesnt want to get out of the comfort zone.

THE ENTIRE weekend will be badass.

Fortunate enough to catch two great artists at great parties prior to the parade last year(Axwell on thursday, Kaskade on friday)
Not planning to go to the after party but the parade will be a blast once again.
Kirk, I want my Mcdonalds
Oh and also invite that cutie who was hanging out with us all day(L.L from sacramento)

Honestly, if you are deciding on coming up based ont he afterparty, then I'd say you are coming for the wrong reasons overall.

ESPECIALLY if you are 21+...

The daytime parade + festival blows away any other pre-party or afterparty. IT's daytime, it's outdoors, there's 25-30 floats (most having great music)....it's just an amazing atmosphere you don't see anywhere else.

If you are under 21 and looking to do something after the festival, then yeah the afterparty is your best bet...but again, I don't think it should be the reason why trip is made....

If you are 21+, there will be PLENTY of parties all over the city to meet everyone's needs and no onel should be complaining!

Posted by Tosh on Jul-24-2009 22:18:

thatswhat i was going to say. I Never try to do the whole weekend cuz i burn out well eough on just saturday.
If you are coming from canada, dont worry about the saturday after parties. Hit a pre party, the parade, and the day after party at ruby sky. its always great. NOOW thats is a complete SF Love weekend

I've never been to Lovefest (errrr... Lovevolution) and have never experienced the event firsthand. The pics and words describing the event are not enough to get me to drive 6-8+ hours from OC, get accommodations, see the floats and mostly naked people, and drive 6-8+ hours back.

I never said that I would only go to SF for the afterparty. For me, neither the festival nor the afterparty alone is worth the trip (perhaps if I had been to the festival in the past, I would feel different). Yes, I could go to a club instead of the afterparty, but I feel that the afterparty has the potential of being much more awesome (assuming I like the lineup).

I'm not complaining. I'm just saying that I need a lineup first before I give up over $50 of my hard-earned dinero. Many people would agree with me, many would not.

You make it sound like a bad thing that I don't want to get out of my comfort zone musically (I'm assuming you meant musically). I've heard a lot of styles of music in the past and I know what I like and what I don't like. I'm sure most people on TA don't listen to opera on a regular basis.

Posted by in2muzikk on Jul-25-2009 05:34:

Well, I can definitely agree with anyone who wants to see the lineup before buying tickets by mistake...been there done that! In 2006, I bought tix to Sensation White NL without knowing the lineup (it's a little different though, since it usually sells out in 12 hours!) The year before Armin headlined the night, but the 2006 lineup that was announced several weeks after I bought the tickets turned out to be mostly House except for Ferry Corsten. Was visually a spectacular party, but I didn't enjoy the music that much.

A friend of mine told me that Sensation White "is all about the party, not the music" so I guess 10 DJ's could have come on stage and farted into the speakers the whole night and everyone still would have had a great time. I, on the other hand, want to make sure that I'm going to like enough of the music to enjoy the party. Fortunately, the Love Parade happened in Berlin the same year and that experience more than made up for everything else!

If the LovEvolution afterparty turns out to be 95% House music, I would definitely look for other alternatives. I do agree that a $54 ($47+7) ticket could be sold to someone else if needed, but if it's a "will call" ticket you'd have to show up at the box office, run your credit card for a "hard" ticket and then sell it...not like you could get rid of it a week or two beforehand...

This is the same reason why I only get hard tix to big events.

actually by comfort zone i was referring to you being from the OC(as it states below your avatar) and your upcoming events attended as it states on your sig(mostly LA massives)

SF > LA and the event/weekend/trip will be well worth it.

No need for any of us to try and recruit you to come up for the event so as Rich stated, just stay in the OC and enjoy the massives in LA.

But if you have never been to a massive where you can breath, your life isnt in danger, and there isnt 90% muscle heads drunk starting fights. Its worth the drive up.
Our parties are better!

When I originally chimed in that I needed to see the lineup before going, I was expressing an opinion that many of my friends from OC share. I assume that many other people that I don't know also feel the same way (although many don't care). That's all... just stating a simple opinion shared by others.

Obviously there is no need to recruit the few hundred or so TAs from SoCal who read this thread. The event will be huge and successful whether we come up to SF or not. I hope it is very successful so I can go in future years... when I know the lineup ahead of time

Posted by bigperf on Jul-25-2009 20:32:

you will know the lineup ahead of time. I would think that sometime in august everything will be in place.
