Maybe cash isn't the main reason, it could just be that he wants to get more people to know him and his music. Anyway, we're talking about Tisto remixing Umek and not the other way 'round, so in fact we're saying that Umek is becoming commercial just because he allows Tisto to remix a tune of his. I would be more devastated when Umek started producing trance and was signed to Black Hole...

And apart from that: why is it that when a music genre/artist is appreciated by a large audience, it/he/she immediately gets labeled as "commercial"? Does the amount of people attracted to a certain music genre tell us anything about that music's quality? I don't think so.

DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!It's quite unfair to bash Umek and Tiesto for this when you don't even know whether the remixes will suck,if the tune will sell a whole bunch of copies and go into the charts(which is VERY unlikely,we're talking 'bout a techno tune here, for christ's sake) and even if Umek will get any more attention from this at all(and I still can't figure out why that would be a bad thing,as long as his productions aren't affected.Umek,of all producers, would really deserve to make it big.).The reactions we're getting here is basically another display of techno prejudice towards other genres of music that they consider not to be as "underground" as themselves. The least you could've done was to wait until you've actually heard the remixes, and until you've seen the reaction they get in the market before going all flame happy, claiming that Umek has sold out and that Tiesto has triggered the friggin' downfall of techno.Jeez, grow up!

I found something...

Umek's "Gatex" scheduled for release

Finally the remix project of DJ UMEK'S "Gatex" has been scheduled for release in the first weeks of September.

Initally the idea was only 2 mixes of Tisto and Montana, but Black Hole has asked UMEK himself to do a remix of his own song and Oliver Lieb (DE) which is well known from his strong cross-over techno/trance sound under the name L.S.G. So the final mixes will be from DJ Tisto, UMEK, Montana, Oliver Lieb, Le Blanc and the original take.

Cool, uh

I think techno is going to "take over" trance....Tiesto is already introducing techno to a greater amount of people by playing it in his sets!

Take over maybe not but certainly making greater then it was
