ffs, people, show some compassion.

lol, im all for having compassion and empathy okay, don't get me wrong. but when i was 16, i never did mistakes like those that i know could risk getting my vagina shredded, that's all.

Sorry. Rape is never okay. A lot of girls do stupid things. That doesn't mean it's okay to rape them.

I'm glad you never did something stupid that resulted in you being raped. If you had, I still wouldn't think you "deserved" it. No girl, no woman deserves it and rape is not a joking thing so sorry if I find your "lol-ing" offensive.

of course it's not okay but she should have known better. Seriously. A strangers pulls up next to you at 2:30am and tells you to get in the car, would you do it? It's not like she's 5 years old and doesn't know any better.

i agree, rape is NEVER okay. but how could you not think she brought this upon herself? even if i get out of work & its dark- i still ask someone to watch me get into my car or drive me to my spot. it's called taking precautions :/ im assuming the girl never knew what 'rape' was and decided the nice 2:30 am man will drive her home safely wasting his time and gas lol

Rose, there is never an excuse.

She shouldn't have gotten in the car with a stranger

becomes

She shouldn't have been alone at night

becomes

She shouldn't have dressed like that

becomes

She shouldn't have such a hot body...

It is never okay. Stupidity is stupidity but rape is never justifiable and is always wrong.

You didn't answer my question though. Would YOU have done it? Probably not. Again, I agree with the fact that it wasn't right. Rape is NEVER okay. But like I said, SHE got in the car. SHE should have know better. Come on. Why didn't she call a friend or her parents to go pick her up? Why did she have to resort getting into a strangers car? What I'm saying is that she could have prevented this and didn't. The second time WAS fucked up and unfortunate and it does suck. But I'm talking about the first time. I've been stranded before in Downtown at 3 in the morning drunk and I wasn't stupid enough to get into some strangers car. I called some friends until one of them came to pick me up.

Posted by yukii on Jul-18-2009 18:44:

we're not saying rape is deserved or right evar. we just think this specific girl had an extremely low IQ level. poor girl? yes.

Yeah, but I grew up in a very different world. So I'm not even relevent to this convo.

When you're that age, you often think that you are invincible.

You smoke because you won't get cancer.

You have sex without protection cuz you won't get pregnant.

You have sex without protection cuz you won't get aids.

You would never buy auto insurance if you didn't have to cuz you won't have an accident.

You can drink all night and drive home because you're special, the alcohol doesn't affect you.

You don't need life insurance, you won't die.

So many of us feel invincible until something happens close to home, its part of life experience, I think.

So if someone jumps off a skyscraper by choice and dies on ground impact, you believe that that persons death was unjustifiable? Physics is wrong?

Getting into a stranger's car at night leads to horrible things. Always.

Rape is wrong and terrible but she chose to get in.

more like... getting pushed off a building

Is rape okay in a ticking bomb scenario?

Maybe It's just me but I never thought if I had unprotected sex I wouldn't get pregnant. There's a different between feeling invincible and being straight up stupid.

What I'm trying to say is that it should be common sense not to get into a strangers car....at ANY hour. Especially at night. No matter how nice or sweet they might seem. Again, why didn't she call a friend or a cousin or a parent? Why did she have to resort into getting to a strangers car?

yes. no one put a gun to her head & told her to get in the car.

A person who jumps off a skyscraper by choice and dies on ground impact has committed suicide.

A person who stands at the rail looking out over the beautiful citiscape and is pushed over the rail does not deserve to die, did not ask to die. But wtf, anyone who stands so close to the rail could be pushed, right? (lol, sunsnail said it first!) That means they asked for it!

Posted by Joss Weatherby on Jul-18-2009 19:11:

ima have to go with echos on this one.

Rape by definition, unless statutory, is a sexual act committed against an unwilling person.

It doesn't matter how stupid the person was getting into that situation, beyond that point nothing is the that persons fault. People don't rape themselves, someone rapes them.

She wasn't pushed into the car. She "jumped".

her putting her self in the location of the crime does not make her party to the crime. this is doubly so when she is the victim of the crime.

lol, its basic fucking criminal law.

Are you people not fucking reading what yukii and I and everyone else is writing? I am not SAYING rape is okay. IT IS NEVER OKAY. We know what rape means. We are saying that the girl is a fucking moron for getting into a strangers car at 2:30 in the morning. It is wrong that she got raped. But she could have prevented this. Why the fuck did she get inside the car VOLUNTARILY? Did she really think the guy was harmless and was going to waste his time and gas to go drop her off? Come the fuck on. The girl is a straight up moron.

What the guy did was WRONG and he should be fucking charged. I'm not saying the guy is a saint here. He is a fucked up individual and should have not done that. But he didn't even fucking MAKE her get into the car. SHE chose to get in. Therefore she put herself into that situation.

Wow, this is amazing to me, especially if gazelles is, as I suspect, also a woman.

We all know what we should not do. We all know what we should do to protect ourselves from being hurt or abused.

However, ladies, no matter how stupid we are and this is very important, it is never ever okay to hurt us or abuse us. It is never ever okay to do something without our consent. No matter how much we drink, how short our skirt is, how trusting we are of strangers, it is not okay, it is not justifiable, it is not excusable to rape us.

Once you start saying she shouldn't have been there, she shouldn't have worn that skirt, she shouldn't have drank so much, she shouldn't have worn that shirt...once you start saying what "she" shouldn't have done, you give "him" license and you can not ever give "him" license. Once you do, once you make it her fault instead of his, you go the wrong way in time, you take us back to where it is okay for men to be men because that's the way the are. He doesn't have license to do something we don't want him to do, regardless of what we do. Of course, we shouldn't do stupid things. Unfortunately, people do stupid things.
