I got a boner looking at the flier.

Wow, you guys are pretty harsh.

I have a couple points to throw in the mix.


-It ends at midnight.

-The "scene" needs fresh faces in order to continue.

-I don't think you need to be 21 to listen to and enjoy EDM

-Everybody started somewhere.

-Not of fan of "kandie" myself, but then again, I am not a kid. But I will still take them over the douchebag boat-captains that are in the clubs. I mean really, is a Ed Hardy shirt and a fauxhawk that much better than colorful clothing? kandie>sleezeball

Anyway, thats just my opinion.

2. Ed hardy and fauxhawk's isnt the antidote to the rave crew.
3. Yes the scene needs fresh faces and listeners. Getting them to lay around in e puddles trading bogus intimate feelings for one another isnt the way to accomplish this.
4. For most people who arent druggies...that miniscule side of electronic music culture is not appealing.
5. To each is own...you have every right to indulge in vicks and glowsticks.

In all seriousness, I salute your motive, but this is just a baaaaaaad idea. I really thought it was a joke after seeing the flier.

The whole raver thing has always seemed so hollow to me.
Wearing all sorts of shit just to signify that you're part of the group. Not to mention the PLUR hippie crap. Peace, love, unity, and respect are fine but people have emotions. We can't be all goody-goody all the time.

I went to a halloween rave one time and couldn't tell it was halloween. True story.

No disagreement there. If there are e puddles then it is a failure.

I know I am cherry-picking here - but I see that in every club I go into. If you aren't wearing sunglasses on your head and you don't have your hair styled according to what the magazine says is hip, then you just don't belong. How is that any different?

The ironic thing about your statement is that the ravers are trying to be different and show some individuality. But, such is the human condition, it all congeals together.

ya know man, i dont hate ravers nor do i degrade what your doing...i just think and know from experience that most ravers are only temporary fans of the music. When the rolling fades away in their life, so does their liking for edm. I just dont dig that shit personally. I know the ed hardy cats at the club can be douches but for the most part they know the artist they came to see. I just prefer an environment where people who know the music to some degree is the majority. I dont hate what your doing..im just not a fan of the rave movement. Never have been and i was there back when. Do your thing though.

And that would have to be a pretty big + you are adding to that 10 if you think raving was anywhere close to new 10 years ago...

First, I need to make clear that I have nothing to do with this event. I was just offering my opinion. As far as I know, the promoter for this event doesn't even know there is a discussion here about it. He isn't promoting to you guys anyway.

I may be an exception to your experiences then as I was most definitely a raver and my love for EDM has never faded. My first party was the first Beyond in Winston-Salem thrown by Liquid Groove and Hypersonic back in '96 and it did indeed change my life. I was already in my 20's then and maybe that is the difference. I am sure the temporary aspect that you are refering to has more to do with being young and fickle than it does with actually being a raver.

Beyond that, I respect your opinion and can leave it at that.

Rave culture really has nothing redeeming that should be passed down onto the youth. imo
