VIP has improved over the early years of LovEvolution (formerly LoveFest formerly LoveParade SF). Several years back, I got VIP and there were no separate bars, you just waited in LONG lines with everyone else...and when I say long, I'm talking about going upstairs and waiting like 30-45 minutes for a drink under garishly bright fluorescent lights. I missed some good DJ sets and was pissed about that situation.

Last year, there were separate VIP bars so the lines were short there. There were also more regular bars, so they weren't as bad either. I also remember going through a special VIP entrance right up in front of the stage and taking great pics of Blank & Jones and some other DJ's in the side rooms, that might have been two years ago...

Everytime I go there through the VIP entrance, they seem to run out of something though...last time there were supposed to be two free drink tickets, but they only had one left. I was told to just tell the bartender that they ran out, but the bartender in VIP insisted that I had to have a ticket for a drink. I wound up going to the general bar outside the VIP bar, explained the problem to two different bartenders and finally got my second drink.

So even if you have VIP, go early to avoid this madness if possible!

considering last year how the vip wasnt that close to the DJ booth, it just kinda jutted out to the sides if i remember right?

i bet the line up will be epic and if you buy tickets before the line up is announced it will be well worth the purchase.

Noticed this detail for VIP...

"Access to VIP Area including an Observation Deck overlooking both stages with a breathtaking view "

This leaves me a little baffled. Both stages? There gonna be more than one stage in the main room or something? Curouis

imo last years lineup sucked. I wish I had gone to another party...but that's another story.

There is no way I would buy tickets before knowing who is spinning, but that's just me.

Tip: This year I'm going to print the VIP ticket description to a .PDF document, send to and save on my iPhone. Then when I get to the Afterparty, if the staff say "there's only one entrance for everyone" or "what drink tickets?" then I can show them the VIP stuff that I paid for!

Still waiting on lineup announcement to get tix though, I'm pretty sure VIP tix will not sell out before the lineup is announced...

Eh, this didn't amount to mean much. A little confusing, but it just means there will be a VIP "observation deck" in both rooms...

BTW, from what I see there's only TWO rooms this year. I am seeing a lot of "both room" terminology, was told specifically the "main and side" room in an email, and what's usually one of the side rooms (Larkin Hall, the side room on the left if you go in from the main entrance) is being used as the place to pick up will call tickets and stuff....they'll just have the doors open from the outside directly into that room, and if it's after 8pm and you pick up your will call tickets in tht room, you can just walk into the rest of Bill Graham from right there.

iteresting dave, keep it coming

taking into account the love parade/fest/evolution line ups across the board trend towards more and more massive headliners every year, and the fact that the past line ups for the official afterparty were:

2008:
Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, ATB, Kyau & Albert, Deep Voices
SOS ft Desyn Demi Omid, Green Velvet, Christian Smith, Alain Octavo
Rennie Pilgrim, Colette, Dave Dresden, Donald Glaude, Hil Huerta

2007:
Sasha, Ferry Corsten, Gabriel & Dresden, John 00 Fleming, DJ Dan,
Three, Eddie Halliwell, DJ Icey, DJ Rap, Chris Fortier, Richard Vission,
Robert Nickson, Donald Glaude, Alain Octavo, John Beaver & more

2006:
Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Above & Beyond, Blank & Jones, Carl Cox, etc

i think it's safe to say spundae/skills will not disappoint trance, house and techno fans in 2009.

Posted by Tosh on Jul-27-2009 00:45:

just no Sasha PLEASE! Thats as bad as throwing Deadmau5 in between two trance artists a Pop was

Yeah, Ferry + Markus was 2005

2006 has Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold, Christopher Lawrence, Junkie XL, and Andy Moor in the main room.

Would be great if First State could make it, my friends said theirs was THE best set at Trance Energy 2009 (though I missed it)! Menno de Jong would also be an excellent choice, he got quite a following after his recent sets in California. I would also see Cosmic Gate again anytime, they are amazing! And, of course, I've probably already mentioned Super8 & Tab about 10 times already...

Posted by in2muzikk on Jul-27-2009 05:56:

Cosmic Gate are booked 10/3 in New Zealand, so maybe next year!

Junkie XL and his incessant "whoooosh" sound effect made me leave the main room that year... I don't even know how that was considered a "Live PA"...

I actually liked Oakenfold's set that year...
He played Greece 2000, Synergy - Hello Strings, PG2 - Txetxe's Memory, Emjay - Real High, & Alfa - Sacrosanct in that set...
