Well I don't think it does but diabetes is a risk factor for heart disease. I have a history of both in my family and so I just feel like it gives me that much more of a reason to be preventative.

Well, it's hard to say because I've noticed an improvement anyway due to changing diet and lifestyle. I just take it for that extra boost...plus it's needed for nerve function and cell reproduction...so it doesn't hurt. I mainly take it and b6 to give an added boost to my metabolism. I do notice I bruise less easily when I take my vitamins, heh.

well that's good to know.

you know it's weird my roommate and boyfriend have both gotten sick 2 separate times in the past couple of months and both times i didn't get it. i was super impressed with my immune system. i kissed my boyfriend and everything. i used to always catch everything. but then again, this was back in my party like a rockstar days so i'm sure my immune system was crap back then. lol

you have no idea how much avocado i eat. i have 3 in my kitchen right now rippening. i just cut them up and do salt & pepper or drizzle some olive oil and balsamic vineger. that's great too.

yea think im gonna go eat some in a min. the ones i have might be overripe, though. i like them slightly soft, but not where you can squish your thumb right through em when you're checking for ripeness.

yea i like mine "aldente" lol kinda hard so the skin separates without squishing it. and plus i like mine in salad so if they are too mushy, they will be guacamole in your salad.

this old portuguese lady my boss has known for years brought us some from her yard. they are the big florida kind. can't wait for them to ripen. the little ones from south america are great too.

oh and lately my favorite dessert is a fruite bowl. banana, kiwi and peach cut up...nothing on it. so damn good

Posted by trancechan on Jul-30-2009 02:44:

a lot of fish oil & calcium + magnesium + vitamin D.

i'm starting to enjoy coffee more often too, & i drink a lot of tea so i'm pretty set on antioxidants.

if i have some extra cash at the pharmacy too i'll get some 5-htp. always feel better when i take the stuff.

Posted by Adam420 on Jul-30-2009 02:45:

Every time I take a shit I feel like a million bucks

I don't need to take fish oil because I eat fish quite regularely

Was taking Centrum Forte for a while but honestly never noticed a difference

This..

Don't let anyone tell you you NEED to take vitamins/minerals in pill form.

I just eat a shitload of fruit.. I probably have:
an apple, a couple of kiwifruit, a couple of oranges, a whole tomato and maybe a banana every day... sometimes those get substituted with something else depending what's in season. Plus always a fresh salad with dinner. I don't like milk so I try to get a bit of buttermilk or cheese or quark in for my calcium intake. Grab a handful of nuts/seeds in as a snack in the middle of the day too. Also drink at least 5 cups of tea. Never had any vitamin deficiency problems in my life.

Remember your body will only take a certain amount of a given vitamin/mineral in and you will piss the rest out. Most vitamin pills contain many times the recommended daily intake of the nutrient so really instead of eating a couple of oranges and having all the vit C you need you're just eating a bunch of binders and crap and loading your urine with vitamin C.

The only thing I occasionally take is fish oil. Because it's reasonably unrefined - just salmon oil usually, and because farmed meat doesn't contain enough Omega 3's and I don't eat nearly enough oily fish.

Hahah yeah I did you pothead. Traumeel. But I dunno if it's available everywhere or just in Canada. The main ingredient you're looking for is called arnica. I'm sure if you went to any health foods place or nutrition store and asked the clerk for arnica cream, they'd point you in the right direction.

The girl at the store I went to also suggested to use witch hazel on the area first. So I bought some scented with lavender. Seemed to work really well. And you can use witch hazel as a facial toner too.

What is that, like $150-200 a month? What's your goal?

Posted by Direct on Jul-30-2009 04:38:

Yeah its about $150 a month. Good thing I work in a gym so I get a free membership. Im only taking syntha 6 because I had some left from my last order. My goals are to drop my body fat% and gain muscle.

according to this guy, nitric oxide is a bodybuilding scam:

http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_...o2arginine_scam

Posted by bigjimslade002 on Jul-30-2009 06:41:

the main ingredient in nos boosters is L-arginine. which increases insulin production which is why i take it with creatine.its also good for wound healing, this includes muscle healing from heavy lifting.and of course it can increase nitric oxide levels stimulating oxygen in the blood allowing a bigger "pump" and allowing you to put up more weight.it also can also increase the levels of growth hormone in the body.a big thing with bobybuilders and bodybuilding in general.

and for some in here it can also help with herpes and erectile dysfuntion and sexual disfunction in both men and women(you all know who you are

is it a end all be all product for body building?not at all.its a side supplement for me and it should be for everyone else also.meaning i can take it or leave it.i dont believe it will enable you to transport more nutrients and protiens better through the body like they say, but i do use for the extra pump, increase insulin levels ,and for promoting growth hormone.

you dont have to buy nos boosters for that you can go to the vitamin shop and get arginine in vitamin form.i buy my nos product because its just as cheap as a bottle of arginine tablets from the vitamin shop.

and like a lot or creatines it will cramp you up.so be prepared for that side effect.it can also be unhealthy if you abuse it.especially if you abuse it like most guys do when they take supplements, especially creatine.

the old "hey if 6 tablets of nos boosters is good then 12 should be great!"and ill take 3 scoops of creatine instead of one!"

WRONGO.

ive seen guys fall out from doing this.stick with the directions.in fact you might have to take LESS then the directions sometimes.listen to your body.it will tell you how much to take.MORE IS NOT BETTER!!

bottom line?.. creatine is a winner.SOME proteins are a winner.NOS boosters? eh take em if you want.its a side supplement.and dont overdue your supplements.you can get the same results someone else is getting using ONE supplement then someone using five.save your money and dont get caught up in the supplement scam.happy bodybuilding!

magnesium

Posted by Ian on Jul-30-2009 08:18:

I take a lot cos my body doesn't take nutrients in well, even though I eat plenty of fruit & veg & salad, infact it makes up almost 60% of everything I eat, alongside lean red meat & chicken/turkey plus oat based cereals.

right now I have

Vitamin B Complex, inc magnesium
Vitamin C
Probiotic in spore form which is gets through stomach acids better

for exercising I have a thermogenic capsule based thing which includes amino acids, caffeine and a few things to balance the caffeine out so it doesn't hit you like it would if you drank coffee or cola or something. It also includes chromium which is good for supressing a sweet tooth

Posted by Lilith on Jul-30-2009 09:20:

Mostly just balanced meals, if I'm not eating properly, sick or something I'll probably take a multivitamin. About the only regular supplements are a kelp tablet for some dietary iodine, calcium 3-4x a week and some iron supp's about 1 week every month.

Fairly sure chocolate counts as a vitamin though...
