That is exactly what it is. And while the noobs get attracted to it, he knows the internet nerds will start and uproar every time he does any kind of a gimmick - and lo, even more exposure.

yes. its all a super secret and clever marketing plot driven by a 28 year old guy who still cant even tie his fucking shoes.
now that i have been officially dubbed as a marketing strategist, music trend analyst, and i've honed in on "wicked marketing techniques" because i am clearly university prof level in marketing... i wonder what else i can do with these amazing superpowers i apparently gained overnight.
.... dood. i mashed that fucking track out in about 6 hours on a night off in boredom, and im just going to upload the 16 bit wav for laughs and give it out for free... cant believe it's even open for critic, let alone passed off as a stunt. Trippy.
Well, i guess as the years go by, some of you might actually start to believe that i *actually* love making music, and dont give a fuck either way about any of its results.
if you want to critic anything i do, please, at least spare me the maniacal fuckin "marketing / exposure" spiel. But, im really flattered that some of you guys seem to think theres some really heavy insight into that dept going on here at mau5trap.... least it makes me appear a little more organized as opposed to the unorganized fuckin chaosfest this whole trip is for me. so, a big LMFAO to that.
and in case you havent caught on yet, this post is also some kinda super special marketing exposure technique as well.

Dude, don't act like you don't market yourself. You'd be a fool if you didn't. In today's industry, no matter how much talent you have, to make it as far as you did, you NEED an excellent marketing team. And just because you love making music, doesn't mean you shouldn't care about the results. The reward is cheese.

If you say you don't then I'll believe you. But let me give you some marketing advice: don't get so angry on these forums. you should be honored to be hated on. its just what happens when you move from the underground to the mainstream. Also, please spend more than 6 hours on your next track.

"these" forums? or forums in general?
heres my advice, and ill keep it equally relevant...
don't buy Starburst candies in the UK, theyre different, and shit.
why the hell would i employ a marketing team? and in what sane world would said marketing team advise me to even think about pulling off even 1/3rd of the stupid shit ive done.... its my career... and ill play with it, nuture it, or run it right into the fucking ground. lighten up, none of this shit is even anything remotley close to anything of virtue to the topic.... so if by "not getting mad on a forum" is just as fucking irrellevant as the way any given topic deviates to the point where nobody knows what theyre fucking talking about anyway.... then me getting right enraged and pissed off shouldnt fuckin matter at the end of the day.
whats the difference to you?
thanks for the advice anyway i guess.

I'm just tryin to say, you got a lot of fans out there, and despite what a lot of the dickheads on here post, a lot of people who like both you and your music are gonna read this. Don't ruin your image for people who actually like you, it makes it hard for us to appreciate your music, when we associate bad things with the person behind it.
It is your career, and it started off amazing. So I hope you nurture it. But I guess in the end of the day, you must be doing something right. Ive never seen a producer blow up as fast as you did. Which is probably why you are so hated around here and also the reason I assumed you had people marketing you.

Hey, I wasn't critisizing you actually - I'd do the exact same thing if I were you. I just find it incredeibly funny people get so riled up about this stuff. "OMG did you see what he named his track/album/whatever now? How dare he! Lolcats belong to the internets!"
Posted by Armitage on Aug-07-2009 20:13:
Well we can all agree it's better than "hearts of sunset tears in your eyes" or some shit.
Joel, this is a 100% serious question - hows your love life improved since your new found pseudo-fame?

Once you become a big artist everything you do is open for critique, you shouldn't be suprised by it, you should have expected it.
It's fine to love making music, but if you are going to make hastily written tracks that sound shitty, Keep them to yourself and your trusted confidants until you can at least experiment with them and turn them into something good.
BTW the samples for the new faskil album sounded really good before beatport took them down.

I'm not surprised people care but I think these 'random' titles are fairly overshadowed by Aphex's ones, zomg he must be a tool. Imo its better then naming them after inanimate objects or titles that everyone has used before.

i dont know, i just dont spend more than 3 minutes trying to come up with some deep meaning name ... name for a track. i just use whatevers around me and call it that to commemorate the moment, and then magically, it has meaning to me.
like my next one "you need a ladder" was produced on a stickam feed, and in the conversation img urls popped up with zelda screenshots, and i saw the old dood in the game with the quote.... so im all "dope". and i run with that. Youd just have to believe a guy who decides to get a massive space invader tatted on his neck has to be living life from the cuff. Im just a very very very erratic and sporratic person is all.
as for the imrpovement of my life... nothings really changed i dont think, i mean, ill be honest, bills arent too huge of a problem, but as its all relative those bills are exponentiating by the hour.. so financially? no change really.... personal life? none. free time? very very very little.... so i dont know, doesnt feel like anythings improoved.... just feels alot more challngeing really... which is i guess kinda fun to sit in the middle of the chaos and get involved from time to time.
