Are people not working on this? I'd love to do something on this but time isn't being very good to me atm.

These vocals sound highly autotuned.

Posted by DjStephenWiley on Aug-25-2009 03:00:

Really? I've got the basic melodyne and they are all on pitch but not perfect pitch. I've also got 3 other acapellas from her (including one I had specifically done for me) and they are all pitched well.

They sounded strange to me at first glance as well.

I can't hear that personally..........But then again, it's not very often I work with vocals.

Posted by BshidoHEAT on Aug-25-2009 20:21:

the vocals do have a distinct sound to them (yes I know I'm being vague) but that shouldn't stop someone who wants to remix it.

I'm gonna try to get some done next weekend, this up and coming one I have a TEST argg....

Posted by DjStephenWiley on Aug-29-2009 14:26:

Deadline has been changed to September 10th due to distributor purposes.

Thanks to those who have submitted thus far. Some good stuff.

I've never heard autotune cause I don't use it but I do use melodyne.

And I do get that stuttery metallic overtone if I pitch shift something too much. But if its generally a note or 2 off its not noticable. (here it IS noticeable)

And another thing, if you leave the tempo at 140bpm (FLs defualt) then scroll over to bar 85 (if the sample is flush starting at bar 1) WTF is that going on there?

Shes not even speaking or singing it sounds almost like shes imatating a retarded person (no offense its exactly what it sounds like). Is that suppose to be an effect or something lol?

I'm making a personal choice here not to particapate the vocals sound to processed. Maybe someone touched the vocals before they gave them to you Stephen?
Sure they can be remixed but I like to keep that clean female human element in my track,(her voice sounds too metallic and stuttery) and if need be for some processing I like to do it myself..

Posted by BshidoHEAT on Aug-29-2009 15:29:

Vocals are in reverse in the middle, so ya...

Posted by itsamemario on Aug-31-2009 07:58:

omg, started remixing this last night, listened to it now and it still just fucking blows my mind away how awesome my remix will be when it's finished.

Was not able to get the dry. It's one of the reasons I noted the thread as a stereo vocal remix. I don't really want to call them complaints, but despite of the comments in this thread, I've had some good remixes submitted. Already have one of them locked in and mastered in fact.

About half way through this now. Hopefully I get time to finish it before the 10th...

Posted by lay on Sep-02-2009 20:39:

I'm about 90% done, but the last 10% are mostly the hardest ones

Well, like a lot of things, I got nothing

Remixes I prefer working to deadlines / pressure... So I thought I'd have a good week to take care of it... oh well, my bad.

Will probably do one anyway for fun.

Really do appreciate the offer though

Posted by DjStephenWiley on Sep-13-2009 22:46:

I'll have a new, and extremely interest remix competition available soon, so you may want to save your energy for that one.

Looking forward to it already.

And I'll do a remix of Haunting Me in some spare time anyway, just for fun.

Awesome. I was interested in working with the vocals for the haunting me track but they were just too cheesy for the type of sound I'm currently working under. I've been in a groove so I didn't wanna step outside the box and do something completely different at the time.

That and they were slightly more processed than I was hoping to work with Nothing you could do about that though i'm sure.

I can't wait until the next contest kinda sucks that I wasn't able to participate in this last one. I hope to hear the results though

I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the project for myself, which was the original plan because it took a lot of time and effort to get done and it will be a big hit if done properly, or open it up a remix contest.

I had that feeling with a track of mine recently and i was hoping that it would blow up all by itself with enough work. In the end i just used a different alias and ended up getting a decently known remixer and a good label to get it into the spotlight more than i could have done by myself. Though of course it's your choice in the end.
