I can't remember what the preset is called, I'm pretty sure it has "mushroom" in its title though.

Silverbox is my choice when it comes to acids. I love the little ******.

So many stupid responses in this thread. Mr Jivebojingles, I am surprised at you sir. Why would you recommend someone who's a complete noob go and get analogue hardware to make such a simple acid sound?

Owien, I thought you were smarter. No synths have a TB303 "built in" WTF are you talking about. Thats the most unclear post I've seen in ages.

Palm, TB303 used an 18 DB/oct filter not a 24 AFAIK. Thats why it can be hard to re create. And most of the dirt comes from external distortion boxes or overdriven mixers in old acid tracks.

Kysora, Sync has nothing to do with the 303 sound. Although the OPs samples might have had sync on them I think. You're definately right in that its not worth getting a whole synth for that sound.

@ the OP, take with caution what you hear on the internet. The sound you're talking about has nothing to do with acid. Its a Single note playing in a certain pattern and the resonance is very high on the filter. Its probably got the oscillators synced and there's definately more than one, and if truth be told I'd say it sounds more like a prophet 5 that a 303.

+1 for ABL 2, it's got a nice thick sound that I haven't heard in other software.

ReBirth s cool but you have to ReWire it so you can't just have it open in your DAW like ABL or Phoscyon.

Phoscyon sucks, completely ignore it. The sounds is way too thin, imo.

I said it was his "best bet" for high res sounds, as analog filters tend not to sound like shit when you turn up the resonance a lot, while a lot of the time VST or even digital hardware ones do (ABL is an exception). Besides, if he doesn't like a piece of hardware, he can always resell it for near the same price. Can't say the same for software.

Its true that a lot of VSTs begin to alias at higher frequencies, and that this becomes more obvious when you turn up the resonance, but I still think your recommendation is a bit excessive... Massive is a good synth for this kind of stuff because its got pretty good anti aliasing and the oscillators have the right sound IMO.

That sounds awesome!

I've got the ABL - It's nice but not really a fan of the acidy bass. It's basically just simple arps with unique filters and a very distinctive sound. I just personally can't find any use for it. There is stuff out there that is so much better for what I'm trying to achieve. But I suppose if you want to produce acid, then get a 303
