WOW, OSU got luckkkkyyyy because Navy's head coach is an f'n moron and decided to change the style of his offense when they had to go for two for the tie.....spread out the offense to pass teh ball, something htey hadn't done all day.

Navy was going up and down the field on them when they ran the option then they spread all their players out for the 2 pint conversion...

stupid coaching.

Needless to say, the try for two was picked and returned for a safety.

So 31-27 instead of possibly going into overtime 29-29

YAY Matt!!! It was a wonderful game, great day at the Coliseum and it was the perfect opporunity for our frosh quartback and other untested players. After the first quarter, it appeared that their inexperience jitters were gone. FIGHT ON!!! Beat the Buckeyes!

Now I'm getting a bit anxious for the first road game at the Horseshoe... It will be fun

Ya. That was not a fun game to watch being a Buckeye fan.

I was thinking the same thing about Navy's coach. DUMB! Hopefully OSU got it out of their system cuz the date with USC has arrived.

(please, please show up this year, Buckeyes!!!!!!)

Hopefully it will be a good game this year. I couldn't bring myself to watch the rest of it last year.

Good luck to both our teams!!!

But a tough couple of years in the big games, but i still love my buckeyes! i'm a little nervous this year, but I will still be screaming at the tv all season rooting for my team! Fingers crossed against usc

Epic battle between Florida St. and Miami. Good to see the U is back.

Posted by DaveT on Sep-08-2009 08:26:

Our new D coordinator SUX though. :-p

Offense is gonna be lethal. So is FSUs.

Imagine how many points one of the offenses coulda put up if the defense coudl stop the other team and gave their O more possessions.

The Miami D is much better than you may think Dave. Give it a couple of games and you will see. For starters, 13 of FSU's points were off of an interception and two long field goals. Also, UM was missing four starters on Defense. The Noles came out with a lot of passing in the first half, but they were dinky short passes that the Cane secondary were willing to give up. The Noles only rushed for about 20 yards in the first half. Strangely, they picked up the rushing in the 2nd half but Ponder's passing went to hell. In either case, Miami's D will do much better against a GA Tech or Oklahoma in Miami.

I hope the buckeyes can put on a better showing this year against the trojans than years past. They have the talent, they just need to put it all together.

Posted by DaveT on Sep-08-2009 19:06:

You might be the only one in the whole world who thinks the D is good right now, loool.

They looked worse than last year...more like the defense in 2007. Sam Shields (#9), who converted from WR to Corner, started above other people who have started and did well in the pass and he was SMOKED over and over again, and he's the fastest person on the team. He just doesn't know how to cover. There were a lot of missed assignments because of him.

FSU racked up over 400yds of offense. No matter how good our offense is, the defense can't let that many points occur.

I seriously doubt anyone here follows them as closely as I do and came in with expectations -- like everything though even if FSU's line is solid, our DLine was thought to be good enoguh to get penetration, yet we got little to no pressure on Ponder other than the four or so times we blitzed the whole game (including the last couple plays)...but that's it. I follow recruiting and everything and a part of a few various UM boards that I regularly post on too.

is there any doubt? whats the spread on this game, i'd take USC at 14. i mean san jose st held them the first half last week didnt they? and it is at the horseshow, and they do have a true freshman as QB and terrell pryor has gotten better with the extra year?

oh ya i forgot OSU cant win the big one.

GO UT!!

Posted by DaveT on Sep-12-2009 18:48:

It being @ OSU really evens the game out.

OSU is known to play down to their competition sometimes, so I would take what you saw last week with a grain of salt.

I am also sure they showed very little, if anything, of their true offense to save it for USC and not give them any idea. Especially any new wrinkles they've added.

USC hast he better overall talent, but I could see OSU winning given it being where it is and other factors as well.

7 point favorites at OSU...San Jose State held SC to 28 first half points.

Argh! Ugh!

A good game this year at least.

Congrats to SC. Freshman QB showed great poise.

TROJANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by DaveT on Sep-13-2009 23:52:

Barkley better learn to throw outs accurately or he is gonna get pick-sixed a lot when he's up against a defense with quick covermen.

And the new OC needs to mix up the offense more. It's very vanilla. A good DC will be able to blow up his gameplans easily if he doesn't do so.

Posted by KrisSC2000 on Sep-14-2009 03:24:

What a huge and exciting win at the Horseshoe! Fight On Trojans!!!!! USC Victory!

Gosh, the score looks good as it is, but Miami could have blew them out if they didn't stop passing the ball.

And our Defense looked great! 96 yards rushing allowed, 87 of those in the first half, 60 of those on the first drive!

It's our pass defense that I'm worried about though. GT's QB can't throw worth a damn, so our pass defense was never gonna really be challenged. That said, there was still that long TD pass we got burned on. our D can't let that happen!

Overall, I'm a happy man right now!

Another nice win for Miami. Starting to build that program back up...watch out.

That ball he threw on the run late in the 4th that was dropped was a great pass, though.
