I am asking becasue I expect the promoters and club folk read these threads and maybe someone will reply....
I have to admit that the more I think about it...the less I understand why you would headline a Dj from Austrailia...and have him play for only two hours....
and....at a $20.00 cover....this does not exactly represent value for money....let's be honest, no matter how good the locals are...that's not what is attracting interest on Friday night...this is not a normal Rehab...Locals only...$5.00 or $10.00 night....it is featuring an international DJ...so the price is more...fine...but then let the boy play for christs' sake!

It's funny because kleph and I play a lot of the same stuff... anyways his set is being extended till 3:30 for you

If this is true...give him YOUR time then!
p.s. it's really funny that you think that two DJs can play the same tracks and be considered the same.....if that is the case...just use the locals as they mostly play the same tracks as the big names....lamest comment in a while baby....

really? you assumed that much about me? from half a sentance.
I simply said we had a similar style ie I play lots of ausy house, ive been known to play lots of ausy house.
Never said I was good or as good, simply saying our style is similar which is why we are booked together... actualy I booked the guy personaly as im a huge fan of his work... Ive been prepering my friday set for weeks and would love if you made it and gave me a chance...
Not really sure why your so angry.

Well...you are the one who only threw down "half a sentence" so what are we to conclude from it?
and I am not angry....but I just do not understand why anyone brings a guy like this in...and does not give him at least 3 if not 4 hours...it is that you only get to play because you organized the event? maybe you can't get a booking otherwise? just clear it up...and I will shut up!

no...I dont know anything....that's why I am asking....instead of answers...I get nonsense....
Once again for the simple minded.....
Can ANYONE tell me why you would bring in a DJ from AUSTRALIA and have him play for 2 or 2.5 hours.....????
I think it's a legit question...no?

ok
here's the simple answer for ya:
more play time for the guest d.j = more $$$
simple..get it?

I know some DJs only want to play 2 hours. But it would be nice to hear the clubs response. I dont understand why Attia cant answer the question... Attia, if you booked the guy shouldnt you be able to answer this?

why are you assuming that it's the promoter or FW who is only "giving" him a 2 hour slot?
did it ever occur to you that it might be the DJ and/or his people who stipulated or agreed to a 2-hour slot for a their fee? or perhaps charge significantly more for a longer one? or don't even want to do a longer one in the first place?
not all DJs are happy to spin for as long as you want and not without more $$$ (want cover to be $25-30 instead? if so, then it's a valid request).
make no mistake...I do share your feelings on short sets though. While I generally don't want to hear 5-6+ hours of anyone not named Danny Teneglia, a mere 2 hours is a bit weak. IIRC, we only got ~2 hours (if that) of Plump DJs at TIL last week when 3+ would have been nice for such established guys who don't exactly get booked all the time either (first time in 10yrs, AFAIK...?).
back on track! roll call...I'm a 'maybe' at this point, though I'd love to catch him. The 'Make it Funky' party in the lounge at Circa the following night is mighty tempting though...

hey MarkT...
I am not assuming anything...I am asking the question..if the guy only wants to play for 2 hours...fine..then just fucking say it...
as for the $ reason Shaya...I have no idea how it works...but if he is all the way here...how much more can it cost?

I can explain why very easily. I started my set at 4:10am (because porter was doing so well I gave 1/3 of my set time away to accommodate him and his fans)..It was the only right thing to do and I understand that more than anyone. But when your set is that late and you only really have like 45 minutes to get a crowd moving and liking your style is quite difficult. Especially after porter which I enjoyed immensely!
I think due to my lack of playtime (busy) you actually havent seen me spin anywhere else. Maybe you have maybe you havent, but I will make a note of it and invite you out the next big gig that comes my way
But as for fly on the wall... honestly dude..., here is a perfect example of why someone would want a shorter set time...
I booked that lutzenkurchen party on Sunday and lutzen only wanted 1.5 hours.. and I brought the guy all the way from Germany and paied a buttload. He wanted this as he could play a more impactful set with all the goodies jammed in. Djs do this sometimes as the sets, when shorter (for certain styles) are more fun and engaging. Ps did you see me on that flyer? Looks like I book parties I dont play at and play parties I didnt book...
I had asked to extend klephs set time as I understand he is in demand and you guys would love to see him a little longer, trust me Im with you on making this party the best it could be.
