Just bought it and registered the product. Are the free plugins longer available or do i have to choose the free plugins today? Still not sure what other plugins to get.

Posted by Owsey on Aug-31-2009 14:06:

You have to choose them before the following timer runs out: http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?...de=groupmix2009

(I think)

Posted by lay on Aug-31-2009 16:06:

Ok, thanks. I took these plugins: (plus the reverb)

- Vintage Tube Compressor/Limiter model 670
- Opto compressor
- Intelligent, multi-algorithm Brickwall limiter
- High precision, high definition Linear Phase Equalizer
- Classic T-RackS Compressor

Hi,

Anyone having problems placing an order on their website? My order just says "pending" with no email notifications or way of downloading the first plugin?

Posted by orTofnChiLd on Aug-31-2009 20:06:

anyone have a spare $99 to give away, it would be much appreciated.

Just a guess, but maybe their server is jammed with everybody trying to take advantage at the last minute? I suppose I'd better make up my mind soon then, huh?

Posted by simonbostock on Aug-31-2009 20:14:

Hehe. Found out what it was, I incorrectly typed my email address. I hope they haven't double charged me, but I have to say, their online store page is a bit rubbish. My order was appearing then disappearing and like someone else said, its a pain in the ass to register.

Can't wait now to get stuck in!

They just passed the 5000 registered users barrier. It's time for the seventh free plug in
According to the countdown (http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?...de=groupmix2009), it seems like they have extended their offer for some time?!

I hope not, I've already purchased the 6 for 1 deal. Unless the people who have already bought it are still eligible for that offer?

My understanding from the previous deal is no matter when you bought in, you're eligible. So buyer #1 would get 2 plugs, then when another couple of hundred peeps joined in, they get three plugs etc etc

All good man. I've got the money, it's just that I keep most of it in a separate account and because I've got a major expense coming up tomorrow night, I figured it would be embarrassing to run a hundred or so dollars short when paying.

I was pretty sure the money would transfer today anyway so I bought it last night and sure enough at 8am this morning I got a text from my bank saying the money has been moved across to my main account. Good times

For those interested, I grabbed:
Vintage Tube Compressor/ Limiter Model 670
Vintage Tube Program Equalizer
Opto Compressor
Brickwall Limiter
Classik Multiband Limiter
CSR Hall Reverb

I thought it was the other way around because that's the way it seems if you read the KVR thread. If you're right though then we get another plug!

That's wishful thinking on your part about the seventh plugin, right?

Posted by Fledz on Sep-01-2009 02:26:

Probably. IKs original promotion was to a maximum of 6x1

Posted by Fledz on Sep-01-2009 07:16:

Do I need to actually download and authorize them this week too?
I've got the email for each one saying they are registered but just need authorization now.

I'm just asking as I'm sticking in a new HDD in a week or two so won't even bother getting these until the new HDD is in place, but I will if for some reason the authorization won't work after the deal ends.

Don't know if you need to authorize them right now, but within the user area of ik multimedia, i have another 4 authorizations left for each product after i requested the first authorization.

Yes, it's pretty generous. My current production computer has lasted 5 years or more, so I doubt I'll ever use up all 5.

A bit offtopic, but did someone else uses the t-racks linear phase eq in ableton live?
As soon as i drag the plug-in into a track (e.g. master channel) i get massive latency problems, even if i deactivate the plug-in. After removing it, everything's fine.

Posted by kitphillips on Sep-01-2009 12:54:

Trying to use any of these plugins is giving me huge CPU problems. Glad I didn't drop the cash. Its literally causing a 20% usage increase on my core2duo. Thats obscene and unnecessary IMO

Posted by derail on Sep-01-2009 13:17:

I've found them all very decent, CPU-wise, except for the linear phase EQ. For the moment I'll have to use that externally in Wavelab. I'd say the plugin is primarily meant as a mastering EQ.

The latency wouldn't be a massive issue if it at least ran in real-time.

Posted by Owsey on Sep-01-2009 17:42:

I was told that the Linear EQ isn't great on single channels due to the latency issue. I haven't played around with it much, but if you go to preferences and switch to oversampling it should work. As Derail said, it's more for mastering purposes.

Posted by sr126 on Sep-02-2009 07:57:

Thanks for posting, i jumped on this offer too. i was able to get exactly what i was looking for... something with color, so i picked the fairchild, and pultec. so far so good.

Posted by kitphillips on Sep-02-2009 08:41:

The other really uncool thing is the interface, how the hell am I supposed to set a compressor without a threshhold? WTF. I can't make these bastards stop triggering.

Posted by Fledz on Sep-05-2009 06:40:

Just spent an hour or two reading up on compression and playing around with the Opto Comp. I love it. It's so neutral and accurate and really perfect for individual tracks. Just one question, the "Compression" knob is the equivalent to a "Threshold" knob on a regular compressor right?

Also tried the Fairchild 670. It does definitely add a bit of warmth and colour even when not compressing anything so I can see this being used on the master channel at the very end of the mixdown stage for that little bit of extra colouration. Can get some nice effects with it on things like vocals or really dominant leads.

I originally wasn't going to get the EQ1A but I'm really glad I did. Just like the 670, it's main strength really seems to be it's colouration, especially on the highs. It's very subtle but can make leads just that little bit more polished.

I'm really glad I bought these. Wicked little plugs that will get a lot of use. Brickwall Limiter is fantastic too if you need to make up just a few dB.

I seriously need to go and read up on compression a bit more though.

You mean the Pultec? That's why I asked that question above about the Compression knob. The lack of a Threshold confused the hell out of me at first.

ps. I'm not getting any significant CPU spikes at all (Live 7).

Posted by Rusty O'Hara on Sep-05-2009 08:59:

I've had a little muck around with them, like the Pultec and Fairchild, but really should give them a good bit of time each to really get a handle on them.
