Big ups to MADE for finally bringing a music festival of this scale. Personally I feel I did not appreciate it as much as I should have (but thats just where I am in my life right now). I could totally imagine being absolutely enthused and THRILLED back in 2005/6 to have a multiday festival finally come here (I remember being completely wowed and swept away by Ultra/WMC and the amazing vibe in SoBE when I went down there in 2005). Drew and I were a bit underwhelmed for most of the day. But before I sound like I'm totally ragging on it, we did realize how much organization this took to bring together something of this magnitude...and how great it was for NYC to finally have a music festival to call its own. It was also a great way to spend a nice day, although it did get severely cloudy during the latter part of the day.

We ended up parking at Astoria, and upon finding the pedestrian entrance to the walkway of the Triboro, proceeded to walk across it. Not bad at all, took 30 minutes, the view was great, and ended up at the gates at around 1pm. Headed into the Riverside stage where Jason was spinning, not up to his usual bpms but still really good. Crowd reaction was favorable As Jerome came on, we decided to walk around to explore the rest of the area, ran into Z and other ppl. She told us Menno was in back of the Riverstage tent and we could probably talk to him if we could get around the fence. But no need for that, we just walked over, We saw him chatting with two ppl inside of the fenced off area. Drew waved to him, he sees him, waves back and actually starts walking toward the fence where we were. I was starstruck for a second when I realized this (ahh so silly). Niiice. A very nice exchange for about 10-15 minutes or so. Really great. Couldn't have asked for anything more

Yea, his set was also pretty good -- loved Southern Sun as well as many other great tunes. Awesome for a 2:30-4:00pm slot. His standing on the decks toward the middle/end of his set was NOT to be missed -- imagine a 6'8 ft guy just towering over everyone. Great big smile. Great roar from the crowd. He is soo amazing and fan-friendly

Went over to the Audion tent at Sunday School Hilltop for the TA meetup. As I understand it, it was definitely more successful today than yesterday. Definitely met quite a number of TAs I hadn't met before, met up with my DC/VA friends, and it was just a nice reunion with everyone <3 Especially great to see Swamper again, and to see Natalie (tatgirl) formerly of TOTA but now in DC/VA. Audion definitely had some sick beats going, from what I could hear of it.

The period between Angello till the end of Markus was somewhat of a fail, as Drew and I needed to hit up the ATM...well wouldn't u know it...3 out of the 4 atms provided decided to break down. so there was this ILL line...omg I think we must have heard 3/4 of Markus's set from that area from 6pm on (thank goodness the sound was that good even at that distance. I would have to say we werent too crazy with what Markus started out with. I think at one point we caught vocals and Drew and I looked at each other, like uhh ok that sounds weird. But his buildup got better within the last half hour). hehe Kerrine just happened to wander over, in need of money too, so we let her wait with us in line, Zack and Frank were around and came over to chat once in awhile, eheh. And that pretty much made the time more enjoyable, hehe. Yea we were pretty much there for an hour and change. eesh

With nightfall, I dunno, I feel like everything was turned up a few notches...I guess the lights probably had a lot to do with it. We were at Ferry. I loved it that he began with "Gabriella's Sky", one of my favorite tunes from "Twice in a Blue Moon." The left speaker suddenly came on, making the sound louder/more balanced, and the crowd cheered. The rest of his set...all predictable songs (LEF, Beautiful, etc.) but hell I still love Ferry though I actually met these two really cool ppl from Texas during that set who gave me their contact information and said to keep in touch in the event I ever was in Texas (go figure ) but hey, they are Ferry fans, we had had a great time chatting it up, and it just added to the great vibe during that set

Decided to leave Ferry early cuz just wanted to chill for a lil bit before Hawtin...but somehow ended up in the Holden tent...and let me tell you, he was throwing DOWN!!! Holden in my experience has been 50-50 at best...he does tend to get a bit too ambient/experimental for my taste. But yeah, the lasers and lights were totally in sync with his banging set, and Drew and I found ourselves dancing energetically. Loved it.

We basically closed out the day with Hawtin/ATB...our legs were spent by that time, so we just sat/lay down in the grass to the right of the Sunday School tent. It was soo refreshing to do so...and Hawtin just sounded AMAZING from the getgo i couldn't believe how great he sounded. Then I got a text from a firend I was supposed to meet up, thats what made me get up, Drew also, and then he suggested we go check out ATB. So thats how we ended up closing at ATB...admittedly the lasers and music were really good. Wasn't feeling "One More Time" really (umm shouldn't that be played at Guetta? LOL -- way too mainstream for me and that almost ruined it for me.) But he finished up nicely so I can't complain.

A good day overall, with the sets getting better and better as the night progressed. Loved the buses outside of Sunday School, especially after dark, with the lights flashing on the interior. I was drawn to them...heehee. I almost wish each tent/area had its own "theme", that would have been very cool.

I'd definitely like to see how next years compares with this one.

Wow, what an event....

I saw Guy Gerber (amazing closing track), Audion (crack), Josh Gabriel (surprisingly very good), Steve Angello, Markus Schulz, Desyn Masiello (wtf!!!!!!!!!!), Tom Middleton (more dnb toward the end, awesome), Hot Chip, Ferry Corsten, Victor Calderone (more crack), David Guetta, and ATB!

Wow, what an unexpected day. Day one was great, but day two! Ferry bored me to tears, Markus was awesome, Guetta knocked my socks off.

I know you'd do the same for me as well my dear

Markus -- just caught the last 30 minutes of his set and he rocked it.
Ferry -- yawn-fest, sadly.
Guetta -- total revelation, loved every minute of his set; yes, I too am a pop whore.

Great seeing everyone last night!

PS: Yay, no lines for the bathroom! Why can't we get more portapotties at PVD in the Park??

ATB (lazers and lights were sooooo sick in this tent)

i dont think so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXL0lIlP0n8 go to 4:55 - it sounds a lot diff in terms of the actual music. might be a mashup

Posted by kill3rbass on Sep-08-2009 00:23:

red carpet sounded like a mashup with kings of tomorrow or something similar, not sure though

Day 2:
Got there just as jerome was finishing up...and then MENNO! Southern Sun! Jumped on the CDJ! Needless to say, awesome.
And then Angello. Saw him last year and he killed it, and he brought it again. LOVED the back and forth with Be / Show Me Love / Satisfaction, almost thought for a minute there he was just going to leave it at Be and Satisfaction...and then he drops the Show Me Love.
Markus...now, I have to admit, if I hadn't heard Menno I would have loved it, but he played a bunch of same tracks that Menno played. Still solid set.
FERRY! We Belong! Beautiful! Rock your Body Rock end! Awesome set.
Like (everyone) else, I left Guetta but went to LCD Soundsystem not ATB :O. They were awesome, great way to end the night, only complaint I'd have is that there weren't enough people in that tent to experience it

Afterparty @ Love: Marcus just destroyed it. There's nothing more that can be said other than that. Oh, and Menno was there!

Awesome job Made Event for the great time!

My wife and I arrived around Markus' set. We were tired from 2 long days so we were able to relax a bit back in the grass and listen to him bang it out. First time seeing him, and I dont think it will be my last!

Ferry Corsten was a BIG dissapointment to me. After hearing all the hype he gets on here, he let me down.

ATB ripped the place apart. We were able to get right up in front and have NEVER had that much room at an ATB gig. As for ATB being rude, he shook our hands after his set. I didnt see Ferry doing this. I cant speak for acts I didnt see, but out of the ones I did, ATB was the only one to greet fans after his set.

Overall - AWESOME TIME!!!

Cant wait for next year.

I posted up my pics from Day 2 of the Zoo on Facebook. Keep in mind I have a really crappy digital camera. But I got some great shots of robdawg, kadomony, hellosam, tubularbills, Game+Watch, and a bunch of other TAs.

I say get in there and tag away. I'd like to identify people, so I know who people are.

And yeah, Facebook me too. www.facebook.com/carolineleopold

I would have to assume that he probably rushed off to eat something and relax before he played at Pacha. Trust me Ferry is seriously one of the nicest people I have ever met and is always going out of his way for the fans some nights you just gotta rush off, ya know?

We got there in time for the end of Heidi, fucking Wu Tang. She is hilarious and has such great energy. It seemed like the perfect day was starting but not everyone there had the same energy or vibe from day one.

We saw the beginning of Guy Gerber but had to take a break because someone's hubby was a bit tired, understandable. We took a break and made it back for the end of his set. He liked Guy so much that he has been downloading today.

We also really liked Audion and the TA meeting, perfect timing. It was great meeting everyone there and you all seem like a cool bunch.

We bounced between Riverside and Sunday School until Victor started.

I didn't want to see Victor for two reasons- not my style and we saw him a few weeks ago. His set was sick, everyone was going crazy.

I didn't like Richie's opening and a lot of his set. I think everyone was so pumped from Victor, it was hard to follow. I really like Richie but it just didn't do it for me.

I have to review Melly too since she is famous- her and her boyfriend are such a cute couple. They must have been very brave to put up with my hubby's insane driving and his Israeli trance. Just so you can understand our marriage, from our wedding guest book- DNB marries trance, hilarity ensues.

I also thought how funny it was, I ran into so many people I know. Some were either not going because they are all DNB and some didn't plan for it, everyone showed up. It was so awesome seeing friends who are into so many different genres at the same event.

Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody (Ali Wilson Remix)

Posted by rudeflame on Sep-08-2009 04:17:

Wow --- Day 2 was perfectttttttttt for me

Every set just seemed different from the previous...got there midway into Gerber's set and I was loving the ambient tracks...especially the closing one...made me sooooo happy to hear that sound being played

lovedddddddddddddddddddd matthew dear's set...was just perfect...i lvoed the transition into adams set which was techno done proper...i lay under one of buses for like 2/3rds of bugs set and seriously...it sounded like soooooooooooooooo good

i was pleasantly surprised by calderone and had to leave despite it being really gd bc I wanted to see holden...got to holdens tent and the sound sucked, lacked any sort of vibe and I moved back to calderone who seriously mind f*cked me he was the STANDOUT of the whole day for me....

and then you had RICHIE....

WOW E WOW WOOOOOOOOW

I've seen Richie 6 times this year and it was hands down the best set hes played that I've heard or even downloaded...I don't know if it was the vibe but he could have ended his set with any of the songs he played in the last 30-40 minutes of his set...the lights were on point for his entire set -- best track selection

HAWTIN = My favorite set for both days

my only 2 complaints were the sound at every tent except sunday school tent and the lack of service on the island with at&t -- i was unable to call or receive messages from ANYONE...bc i lost my group day 1, I didnt take any chances splitting up

im so glad i didnt see guetta after watching this

What a crazy weekend!
I kinda liked day 1 better, I think the vibe was so much better because ppl didn't know what to expect and everyone was pleasantly surprised... Day 2 the surprise element was gone.

I still loved the sets I heard yesterday (except for Holden who was shit, the lasers were great, though!).

I was kinda sad I missed Heidi, went to the main stage as soon as I arrived to check out Lindstrom & Prins Thomas (who I love) and they bored me to tears, so I went to catch Gerber, Audion's set was good, wasn't losing my sh*t over it, though. Adam Beyer on the other hand, was unreal, prob my favourite set that day, he seriously smacked me in the head.

Steve Bug was so into what he was playing, he wouldn't stop dancing, I love to see the dj having as much fun as the party people.
Went to check out James Holden and that was a bust, so went back to sit by the Sunday School tent, Victor was great but the mob of ppl wasn't.

Dove back into the crowd for Richie's set and loved every minute of it.

Thank you RudeFlame and co. for entertaining me and Felix!! You guys are the bestest!

Nice to meet a bunch of you: AY STAR, Mel, yumpop and hubby, etc etc etc (sorry, I'm horrible with names).
So good to see phoenixbebe and Drew, yankeebaby and Gabe, it's been a long time since I last saw you! I thought kellybelly was coming, where was she??

musically, day one just destroyed from start to finish, so I gotta give it to day one, by a landslide. I still cant get over day one and the beats being brought. just WOW.

This...and I stayed in pretty much the same tent both days.

I saw Josh gabriel, some desyn, james holden, markus ferry and richie hawtin.

Josh and Hawtin killed it. I didnt make it for the TA meeting.

Markus was pretty good too. I was expecting ferry to go nuts, but that really didnt happen. I was happy to hear made of love and beautiful and body rock i think?

I was sooo tired and hurting at the end of the second day. My back was killing me.

There were less people the second day right? I took a water taxi this time with my friends.

Hmmm there was a white camping/food placething where they were selling falafels/pita breads for $4.99 definitelly the best deal/food out of the entire place.

I am so happy that Made has created such an event for us. I didnt touch beer at all, fuck that $9 for this urine...

Well im looking forward to another one next year.

I am still amazed that we had such an event of these epic proportions.

Its funny how i managed to run into Andy, Gerard, Burak, Rory at this huge ass place multiple times
