Haven't seen anything about age requirements

Posted by dxsire on Sep-08-2009 15:08:

i would doubt any age requirements for a free show, but that's just my sense. hopefully its not 21+ because i want my girlfriend to come and she's not 21 yet.

Woops. Correction on the timeslot. 3-6PM. Opener is unknown.

08.09.2009 - Free event in New York with Armin van Buuren!

As you all know, New York was once part of the Dutch kingdom. Unfortunately the Dutchies sold it, but that doesn't mean they forgot about it. To celebrate this unique fact in history, several Dutch artists will make their way over for an all-Dutch festival: New Island Festival. The Festival will take place September 10-13 and 17-20.

This weekend, on September 12th, Armin will be part of the celebration by bringing the dance floor to New York Harbor for a free party! The special 3 hour set, from 3 - 6 PM, will see Armin providing the right beats for this Saturday afternoon dance party. Another special thing about it, is that Armin will be officially announced by the royal family of the Netherland: Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Mxima. A great honour that deserves a party!

And I kept telling myself that Saturday was the first time in the last 5+ yrs I missed him in NYC. And now he's back the following week

First time going. Can you buy tickets for the ride there or you have to buy them online?

Posted by Coderedpl on Sep-08-2009 17:08:

i bought mine online and selected 11:30 as the time. Guess ill be there early and see who else arrives :P

Posted by dxsire on Sep-08-2009 17:12:

yea i'll probably get there early too.

Posted by Lira Yin on Sep-08-2009 17:59:

Bought mine for 11:30 as well. Say hi if you see me. Hope the opener's also a trancer, but hey, even if it isn't, this is going to rock faces.

I edited my comment, somehow skipped the info on page two.

Water Taxi is very unreliable. I am sure you can pay the fare and just use the free ferry since it has a regular schedule. The Water Taxi sometimes waits around until it is full.

Posted by Coderedpl on Sep-08-2009 18:32:

Any decent places to park a car around the ferry starting point?

Posted by RoBDaWG on Sep-08-2009 18:35:

Where do I catch this water taxi?

x2... And Link to get the tickets for one?

Posted by yumpop on Sep-08-2009 18:54:

Parking is pretty limited depending on the block.

The water taxi is at the end of Wall St between South Ferry and the seaport.

And Armada was the people who wrote it. Own Dutch don't know the history :s

Posted by RoBDaWG on Sep-08-2009 23:23:

No one's ever distorted history before

"Even old New York
Was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People must have liked it better that way"

Posted by diabloargentino on Sep-09-2009 00:38:

can anyone confirm that this is all ages? my friend wants to book the tickets for the ferry for a few of us but hes the only 21 year old =P

They probably wanted to make it sound better-- "we sold it" sounds nicer than "we gave it up" :P

Posted by BiG MiKE on Sep-09-2009 05:04:

I would definitely get those Ferry ride tickets asap. I bet you anything that once each timeslot gets sold out completely, you will not be able to enter the island. Just bought mine. See you guys there!
