Is it stagnant or just the case that certain traites in music, appeal to a wide audience?

I have a lot of sympathy for the argument you possit, and I myself pretty much avoid listening to the billion or so remixes as they in the main don't bring enough newness and innovation - baking a cake twice just does'nt get me going now, with the odd exception here and there. Can you imagine a fashion designer every time he launched something, there was 5 rehashes by other designers?

I also think you can become mentally saturated by the wall of sound heading your way - I can't keep up with it all, so hugely narrow down what I 'listen' to.

On the other hand........ I do check out new releases by quality artists like Akesson as it's important I think not to get too much trapped in your own little world - loads of wanna be xfactor contestants think they have the xfactor, largely because they dont objectively compare thier ability.

So I'm not completely cut off, but I do limit my exposure. Howz that for fence sitting!
