So that alone would be about 5 tracks?

Whatever works for you. Separate would be a lot of work...and would take away the beauty of your mixing anyways. We shouldn't be given a play by play into what's really going on.

Awesome set man. You + 3 decks seems to = win. Nice to hear the techier stuff from you too

I have to ask though - What is it with you and latin-style house lately?

Posted by david.michael on Sep-15-2009 14:02:

Listened to this last night (in the office) on shitty PC speakers at low volume, and heard some interesting parts, but found myself overall bored.

Listening to it now at a decent volume on (still shitty) headphones, and wow. This set is really cool now that I can actually hear what all is going on.

Lots of groove, lots of funk, lots of techy elements... big sound. Totally dig it, great job.

Also, I liked the use of the Lumidee acapella in this (I thought it was fun, nothing wrong with indulging in a little bouncy fun.) However, strange that this is being dug up after a few years. (I heard this somewhere else recently... an RA podcast, maybe?) Still, very well used.

Keeping this one around for a bit.

I'm ripping my hair out and lack a bit of time to concentrate on the cue. The collider segment would be 1 track (i think lol). Anyone want to try and tackle this? I can figure out a special scooby snack for anyone who pulls through. The mixing isn't really from point a to b here, so trying to figure where to cut, how to put in the artist info and so on is driving me a little crazy.

I would really love to include the original song titles as to not look like one of those dudes who takes credit for other peoples work.

Blame my wife. I still buy the tech, but since i share a music room with her, i can get away with blasting more house than i could with moody glitch that she does not really "get". It does not hurt that there is no shortage of nice material in this department as of late. I guess women think suavemente is sexier than hawtin fist pumps. Thx for listening mate.

Merci

You probably heard this in regards to the lumidee accapella:

http://www.sensationrecords.com/lum...h-pr-19930.html

I had the original accapella because i own a lot of hip hop and rnb from the era. I obviously have a huge hard on for those guys (minus sven), so i figured i would take a stab at my own version for a little fun. I found a few other older accapellas while digging in my old stuff that i can't wait to use. I would have to agree that this set could probably only be enjoyed loud, as i ride the eq a lot in this one, and the range is lost if you can't hear the work.

Not quite My mom spends probably 4 months out of the year in cuba, and i made some friends who dj for tourists there. They have some access to internet (which is rare there), and they have asked me if i could put together a few "latin & african" cds for them. I love world music so it is going to be fun. I could probably use a wetbacko loco like you for help with this.

ok back to work

Sounds fun, can't wait to hear some of that. I'd like to start incorporating more acapellas and tools into my sets.

Just curious...why the request for cd art and cue? You feel this was one of your best mixes? Gonna send it as a promo?

Posted by lenazi on Sep-16-2009 14:46:

not for promo or anything. I'm having a dinner party with about 20 people who work in music. My gf (who works in that industry) wants to make little baskets with gifts for everyone and she asked me to put something together for it

i only shared it here because i enjoy it.

Posted by djhaziel on Sep-16-2009 15:11:

how about if along with the cd you give them a t shirt

Posted by lenazi on Sep-16-2009 15:31:

lol, there is a better t shirt out there with me on it than that

Posted by Clovis on Sep-16-2009 19:32:

Wtf bro why are you trying to be luciano. First you must grow a massive beer belly, is that complete?

Posted by Allied Nations on Sep-16-2009 20:11:

downloaderling

Posted by lenazi on Sep-16-2009 21:04:

Thats pretty ******y.

Great idea though.

So should I make a cover for this with that photo? I tried finding a picture of a pair of slotted sunglasses that would work on that picture but alas I couldn't find one.

Posted by lenazi on Sep-18-2009 14:54:

naw the tranny idea got veto'd by my "boss". She is getting someone to do it, but i appreciate it adam

@ clovis curious to know what the censored part was. It was a pretty good idea, because it was not mine. I'm deffo not the brains of the tandem.

Posted by Teezdalien on Sep-18-2009 14:56:

Giving this a listen at the moment.

Posted by Mr Game+Watch on Sep-21-2009 13:24:

Usually I try to give slightly more detailed reviews, but for now I will just say... I loved it, probably some of the funkiest and most upbeat I've heard from you. I'd still give the edge to your last one (One Night On The Way To). The Bank Brotherhood acapella was great, and I love that Julien Chaptal song.

Only complaint was I'm not really a fan of Lumidee

Posted by lenazi on Sep-21-2009 18:58:

yeah, lumidee seems to be the "caminando" of this set to many. I wasn't trying to be luciano per say, only trying to do something better than he did, which considering how awful the bootleg he plays is, and the fact that i did this live, i think i achieved what i set out to do.

next mix will probably be old school hip hop and nothing else, so call it foreshadowing. Thanks for the listens.

I haven't used back spins, slam fades, or beat juggling with 2 of the same records for quite a while. I hope i didn't lose it. I also hope that the records i want to play are still in decent condition. Its been a long time.

edit: adam i didn't buy the cleis on vinyl, i am on their promo list

Oh, awesome dude. You should still buy it though

p.s. I'm sorry but it occured to me that I never left any complete feedback yet. I'm gonna put this on again and follow it up with a brief write-up. I remember it being pretty awesome though.

Posted by Amduscias on Sep-21-2009 21:20:

Posted by Amduscias on Sep-21-2009 23:01:

I had ONE problem with the whole thing...

Lumidee - Never Leave You (Accapella) [Universal Records]
