The fact is people may like it, but if you don't suggest digging deep into the archives they might miss out.

Yeah, I got your point but then again there are plenty of people here who genuinely don't like the stuff you or I do and I don't think there's anything wrong with that either. But to get so aggressive over something like that... that I can't understand.

Salt Tank - Eugina (Progressive Summer 2000 Mix)

One of my favourite tracks, I get high just listening to this 1. Off of Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Presents Another World Compilation.

Ive been looking for the last year, and Im sorry to say, but trance of today just isn't at the same quality level as this...

Trance like this is so beautiful. I listen to ASOT 2009 and its utter shit. Trance of today just isn't up to par with trance pre 2004.

So buy some music software and some synths and start writing some beautiful trance of your own.

Yeah point taken and I didnt want to come across agressive. I guess the point I am trying to make is if your new to the scene take some time out to dig out some of the older stuff Pre 2003. If you like present day Armin, take a listen to some of his sets from around 2002.

I only say this because I've been doing this myself just recently and its rewarding finding albums and sets that I have previously missed.

How can you say Lady Gaga isn't funny? That bitch is hilarious.

Yeah, I didn't say you were the one getting aggressive

Haha. Late night, My brain wasn't clicking over.

But, it is a point to emphasize on that a lot of the newer listeners to trance don't take time out and look at some of the music from the past, which imo is of a better quality in terms of creativity and production. They don't appreciate and respect some of the peoples knowledge on here and instead think they are personally targeted because of their taste in music, in some ways some of the regulars are trying to do you a favour!

Hell, I'm prob just an old bastard! But I think everything was better in the past! Films, games and music! And I'm 24!! Haha.. 'They don't make them like that anymore!'

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Sep-14-2009 13:09:

TV is definitely getting better over time, IMO. More complex and interesting dramas with writing, filming, and acting that easily kills any shows made twenty years ago, and comedy series without the stupid laugh tracks.

Its all opinion I guess! But cmon, Knightrider, A Team, and Baywatch to name but a few are far more entertaining than the dramas they churn out today. I can't think of one drama in the last 10 years or so that has been really entertaining!

Ha! Next to stuff like The Sopranos and The Wire those shows look like a joke to me. They are very "entertaining" in a kind of kitschy nostalgic way, but as drama they just do not stack up IMO. Different tastes I guess.

Posted by chrisday on Sep-14-2009 16:56:

Haha... Yeah I guess so. I'm just glad you didn't say 24... Just watched series 5 and the acting was some of the worst I have ever seen!

the only good shows on TV right now are The Office and Scrubs.

Also I used to be really into The Secret Life of the American Teenager but it just got really stupid when the chick's mom got pregnant so I stopped watching.

Its not even comparable, you listen to a set from 2000 and every track is great, you listen to a set today and its full of generic shite without a decent track throughout the 2 hour mix.

Looking at the compilations which have been around for ages the number of tracks I liked haven't increased, but haven't decreased either.
I never was really interested in DJ sets, always prefered compilations.

I think trance today is better than its been in a looong time, its just SO MANY tracks out there now, that its impossible to hear it all, therefore people check out only the most popular releases which almost always are shit.

You have to dig and find the tracks and artists that makes trance that you like.
Find the DJs or artist that makes or plays the music you like, because i can guarantee you that there is the same amount of quality tracks being released today as it was ten years ago.

So true, I 100% agree.

People always talk about DJ sets over here and never mention compilations. I wonder why?
