i think that when you produce music 5+ years, there is no sense to use reason, it's just limiting yourself. but for beginners is great and yes you can achieve pro quality with it. and it's not more difficult than with other DAWs, its just a matter of taste. 
I been using for a couple of days now rewired into cubase and I have to say that I am just treating it like a few extra vsts. Mainly the subtractor I just love the velocity response section. I had a go for drums but vs loading the samples into cubase and processing them as audio it totally lost out. Even though the redrum has some cool features such as the 8+9 exclusive thing to give realism to hi hats I still would only use it for hats, snars and kicks are just better compressed and processed in cubase.
Good fun though and when making an acid riff or whatever the matrix is such a timesaver to just hear a quick pattern.
