i listened this afternoon and enjoyed it. yes some of the mixing was a little special, but it didn't take away from playing good tracks.

i heard 3 different versions of rene months ago woscar. It actually worked well in this. The only reason i never played that track was due to it not being properly mastered and that would create problems when mixing it with tracks that had been (same with the guillame ep, i wanted to play pussy sheppard really badly but the audio quality of the track was simply not up to snuff yet.)

i really like rene as an early night track...good job pede.

Looks good will give it a go. What sort of 90bpm stuff did you play early on? Any artists or songs that you remember?
cheers

Loved the first Standard Rooftop set you posted (the one with Lovelee Day, Entropy Reigns, etc), will check this out.

Auto-beatmatching does not guarantee that everything will sound perfect...there's still phrasing, EQing, and other stuff to take care of.

Anyways, you said the same thing about the mixing on your other Standard rooftop set (not the one with Magda), and it wasn't bad, just "unconventional".

haha, obviously theres no auto beatmatching done here as I slipped in several places

In fact I dont even know how to use that in traktor

Question

15. Seuil - Lost At The Soul Shower [Freak N Chic]

its really sweet ... is it just out on vinyl atm ?

And tell Lee to put that track out now ... its a gem

Yeah I love that track, Seuil gave it to me, should be the next freak n chic release. The A side has a similar chill track with this great monologue from Marylin Manson talking about society

And yeah Lee's track is great, one of his newer ones. Not sure where/when it will be released.

This version I'm playing is eq'd and leveled much better, and I added a few minor things. Still might revisit it when I come up with some new ideas sometime. I'm still not really happy with it but it was fun to try it out.

Hey, Clovis, would you happen to have the full tracklisting for the MinusCulprit.mp3 set? There's some really great music in there.

Posted by Adam420 on Sep-23-2009 18:41:

This mix is really really nice, Clovis. I can see what you're saying about the mixing being a bit "loose", but that's all it is at worst. In fact I felt that some of the transitions were extremely well executed. Obvious star of the show here though is the track selection, which I thought was impeccable. Some great tunes in there, liek the Mark E (gotta get into his stuff more, he's a great producer), the MCDE, the DJ Sprinkles, among others that I don't know off by hand. Needless to say I'm gonna need to go over that TL in more detail later.

So this was very much enjoyed, to say the least

I do not unfortunately as the rest is by Droog guys, I believe Andrei posted his portion which came after mine in the westcoast event thread.

Posted by woscar's alt on Sep-24-2009 16:09:

I finally listened to this, Clovis. Awesome, awesome stuff. Like Adam and others have said, the mixing is no problem at all. It's hard to transition between the kind of tracks that you used in this set, specially during the earlier portion and you pulled it off very well.

Also agree with Adam that the star of the show is your track selection (as always). Your sense of what to play, when to play it, and where to play it is truly remarkable. You really hit the nail on the head with the set you played to open for Lee and Lawler at Avalon and you did the same here. Two completely different settings, handled perfectly.

Another thing I've always said (specially about Jay and his sets), is that one of the marks of a great DJ is that he/she can make me enjoy music that I didn't enjoy the first time around. For example, I had already heard "Isch" before and I even bought it when it came out, but I still wasn't too fond of it. However, in the context of this set it sounds amazing and you just made me want to go play around with it.

Also, I really, really liked "Rene". It's fresh, classy, and groovy. Keep doing stuff like this, I love it! When is it coming out?
