We have 176 in NSW. I go past like half of them. Interesting thing is that I keep seeing more of them burned to a crisp, most recently the one up the road from me
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafet...ameralocations/
They aren't really that bad because you know where they are and the GPS tells you where the rest are. What is annoying are the 40km/h school zones. What's even more annoying is that I actually think they are a good idea, I just hate going through them. God damn
We have both speed cameras and red light cameras.
I don't recall seeing automated speed cameras in america but I'm sure they exist.
A lot of the speeding ticketing is done by cops in cars who gun you and then pursue you till you pull over which takes no longer than 30 seconds if you aren't in the mood to pull an OJ speed chase.
Red light cameras are getting more frequent but some cities have taken them off because they don't generate enough revenue.
In France automated speed cameras are the norm, with these signs announcing them:
"FOR YOUR SECURITY, AUTOMATED CONTROL".
The camera is usually 10 to 30 seconds afterwards (obviously depending on the speed at which you are travelling).
You occasionally have cop cars, with one doing the gunning and one further done the road signalling you to pull over if you were gunned earlier. On the highway there are some Subarus that can go on high speed pursuiits:
In Switzerland you have small signs that mark "Radar"
Since we're mentioning the police, NSW must have the coolest looking police cars in the world. God damn do the new Commodores look sexy
we do have speed cameras and radar in my area, but also do have cops who love to hide behind a bush or under the bridge.
No speed cameras in California, but we do have red light cameras. My best friend lives in Arizona and they have cars with a 4ft pole with a camera on top. They are speed cameras. They put them all over. No one is usually in the car.

This article is set to remind them that despite the fact that the autobahn has no speed limit, many highways do and if you ignore them you'll get busted regardless of there not being a visible police officer. |

The thing about automated tickets in the US is that they are kind of against the bill of rights, what with the lack of due process and all.
First of all, they can't prove it was the individual in the car, with the shitty quality and all.
Second of all, fuck off with your Orwellian surveillance.
We have tolls and you can get an automatic RFID-based toll tag for your car, so that you don't have to wait in line an scrounge for cash. People argued that they could use those tags to record your entry/exit times on the highway and then send you tickets in the mail. So far, the highway people said that it's a violation of privacy and will never happen.
Have fun with all that video surveillance, Britain. Let us know how it works out for you. Why not put an RFID tag on every car and fine everyone every time the car exceeds the speed limit by 4kmh?

Speed cameras. Ive never seen them when im home on the east coast.... they may have them in arizona or california though not really sure. Usually a speed camera for us is the cops using radar. Albeit we are ALL about these idiotic red light cameras.

We don't have speed cameras that automatically dole out tickets, but there are cameras at most every intersection around here regardless. Watching. Not sure if I'd rather know they use them to fine people, or leave their undoubtedly insidious purpose left to the imagination! FASCIST POLICE STATE TAKING MY FREEDOMS WTF
The city I went to HS in had a Corvette on their police force though. The rest of them drive brand new Chargers anymore. Who would have thought that crime-fighting could generate so much profit?
this link shows the states that have speed cameras, red light cameras, both, or non of the above.

There has to be a way to create a plastic cover that only has viewing angles that a ground level cop car can see. That way these stupid cameras can't get your plates. lol
They have them, they're just illegal and quite obvious to Police.

You know those billboards that have the rotating panels that periodically display different adverts every few seconds? They can custom make your plates like that. $.
