Get an Evo 5.

what happened to the 4 eqs?????? I would prob get one if they kept the 4 eqs but the pic looks like it only has 3.

don't know how it performs, don't really care. i don't think it's much different from anything else A&H has out on the market right now. A&H new shit is starting to look like damn toys, those huge ass cue/play buttons look like they're made for the blind. the whole product is ugly and overpriced. it really looks like they've partnered with fisher price on this one

honestly, i don't see how this is much different from a xone 3d aside from its better soundcard. 4 channel layout, with 2 channels of FX and no a&h filter. such a simple piece of kit for $1,800? basically, it just seems like a lazy mans xone3d/4d. someone who's not willing to create their own traktor/ableton/whatever templates

i'm sure it will bring use to people who just want simplicity. i'd rather get a xone:92 and a couple cheap midi controllers and have a much more versatile setup worthy of such a high price tag

From RA:

Allen & Heath and Serato Audio Research have announced details of their joint venture into the DJ controller market.

Designed primarily for use in conjunction with Serato's new four deck version of their ITCH DJ software, the XoneX is a plug-and-play 20-channel USB soundcard (96kHz/24-bit) that features at its hub a four channel mixer for direct DSP mixing within the computer. Up to 168 individual MIDI control messages can be sent from the DX's various knobs, buttons and jog wheels, which means compatibility with most leading DJ software brands. A full version of the new Serato ITCH software comes bundled with the package, allowing users to take immediate advantage of the app's looping, time-stretching and FX capabilities. There are a few club-friendly extras included as well, in the form of a UV light sensitive legend, bi-colour LED feedback layer assignment and a separate booth output.

The XoneX ships as of November 2009 at a suggested retail price of 999.

where is the pitch slder i dont get it? will it somehow auto beatmatch or smthn? how will you change the pitch?

Posted by Doza on Oct-05-2009 15:43:

so this is a MIDI Controller and not a mixer. Who wants to explain what the difference(s) between the two are? You know, for the people who don't know...not me though, i already know *shifty eyes*. hahaha

I noticed that too - I think the knobs on the top outer corners of the jogwheels control the pitch. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I hope the pitch-bending doesn't suck.

This looks weird, but i'm actually getting interested in trying it out. Having easy access to 4 decks will be great, and the internal mixer means that you don't need to worry about connecting all of the output channels to the club mixer before you get on. Personally I like controlling serato with vinyl but its really a pain to deal with if there isn't a box already set up. I haven't used traktor but i imagine setting up all 4 channels would be a pain too (correct me if wrong plz). I also don't know if there are any cheaper alternatives that combine the ease of setup with the 4 deck control. I know m-audios xponent is similar but it only does 2 decks.

The biggest thing for me that i don't like about the DX is the channel levels only have 4 leds.

What i'm don't understand is the guy says (in the video) channels 2 and 3 accept phono. So can you plug vinyl decks in and play them as though going through a normal mixer and not just with timecoded vinyl?

If it does this, i might get one and if not it'll be a 4D!!!

Posted by DjWoody on Oct-05-2009 22:55:

Yup! It's a mixer as well. And it works with TRAKTOR Too!!! So if you don't like Serato Itch, you can use it with Traktor.

Cool well it looks like one of these could be my next purchase.

Posted by keithos27 on Oct-06-2009 14:18:

okay i'm confused... what's the diff between this and 4d then? i'd be using traktor pro, vinyl, and cdjs.

Posted by i got big pants on Oct-06-2009 18:04:

no filters i would assume.

Posted by <tuss> on Oct-27-2009 03:29:

maybe a stupid one here but, will this control timecoded vinyls/cds w/o the use of the audio 8 box while running traktor scratch pro?

Posted by nemesis8722 on Oct-27-2009 04:22:

I love the close-up shots of the unit - looks like a real quality piece of gear. But when you take a step back and look at the unit as a whole, it looks like a toy - that's why I hate midi controllers.
