Voyeur caters to awesome hipsters like you, it catches all the run off from U31, El Dorado etc etc.

Most of the acts that go into Voyeur are mainly electro and trance acts, just with a few big room house/progressive/techno acts in between. I have been there, where there is a big act and its dead. I have seen there SEVERAL times. Sorry to knock you off your high horse, but riding on my little pony isn't much to brag about.

Also, i am not sticking up for Spin just saying what i have seen. The worthless security guards at Spin kicked me out a few weeks ago because they though i was dropping pills. And anyone that really knows me, knows that i don't fuck with drugs and a rarely drink as opposed to what most people think.

As for the above comment -buymarshon- I'm sorry that you have such misconstrued information regardless of whom you're friends with or what information or sources you are getting such from. Like Nero said, they are catering to their audience (who probably cant tell Sebastian Ingrosso from Steve Angelo or Steve Aoki-musically or by face) and KUDOS to them.

Dave Dean (owner and director of Giant) and his San Diego business partner, Chris Braga, own Spin. Spin has the best sound and dance floor set up for DJs in SD and that rare late night (past 2am as well as 4am) permit, so I�m sure there�s always a plan in place as Dave has decades of experience with dance music venues. Giant has been producing weekly Fridays in San Diego for 4 years (from 4th and B to Belo to Spin). I can only imagine they�ll continue to do so for some time.

Exactly as I said... lol... It's just happens that the time being San Diego hasn't got a scene that's thinking outside of PB and Downtown, which frankly aren't areas I'd frequent due to the "crowds" (aka oodles of people with no clue who is who) and the "expenses" (parking, high drink fees, and asshole people who treat you as a number).

I'll admit that Spin hasn't been kicking it like last year, and I'm glad more people are bringing good names to San Diego as a whole (see this week with Kyau & Albert and an upcoming show with a special Dutch Trance duo known as Rank 1)... but that doesn't by a long shot mean Spin is dead. It's had a flux year... and a lot of DJs have opted not to come down with Giant this year. It just happens.

Personally, I love Spin for being where it is, and the crowds that have come (excluding the Eventvibe era personally... I wasn't a fan of those crowds... lol... for the same reason I'm not a fan of them downtown). The problem with Spin at the moment, and what many of us are trying to help the venue accomplish, is that it lacks a major identity. People still think of it as Club Montage in some circles (which it clearly isn't anymore) and it just needs to have the identity carved into it. Hell, the venue's been around for a year + really in its current version.

Voyeur has a nice niche - brand new, great location (as it was Ole Madrid) and notoriety (LED Wall and the fact it used to be Ole Madrid). You'd be surprised how much that helps a venue... and its venue is good for its business... it can get the Gaslamp groupies. I'll be there this weekend to support my friend spinning and to see Victor and a great trance act play San Diego. I can tell ya though, it wont be a place I go to a lot because I'm happy to be away from Downtown and the unnecessary drama.

To each there own though.


Oh, and about the night.... IdeaL rocked the decks with a great set. Very good sir! However, I was disappointed in Mark Knight. He never really seemed to fall into his groove the way I thought he would, and the sound was fairly blah. I was loving Flauta Magica (3rd Song) but it all kind of blended a bit much after that to the point where I left the dance floor, which I had been on since, say, about 1/3 of the way through the first opener's set.

this was nice to see! the eddie link is the same as doc martin, I edited it so that it is correct. I will be seeing Eddie in LA, saw him in SD at the wavehouse memorial day weekend, what a party!

Ohh yeah, i forgot to mention in that post that i got back in after about 10-15mins.

I made some phone calls waited outside and then the Security guard came up to me and said sorry because it was his mistake that he confused me with someone else blah blah blah. I didn't believe any of it, or care by that time. I just wanted to get back inside with my friends.

So yeah i did get back in, so it wasn't too bad. I didn't reread the posting before going back to work.

I loved Mark Knights set, it was EXACTLY what i was expecting. Kind of a blend of big house tunes with A TON of dope tech house. His sets style was very similar to D Ramirez's earlier this year. I was all about that, and stayed till the end. I was going to leave at 2am because i had work at 7am Sat, but I couldn't leave while he was dropping it. I got there early enough to see Pauls set, it was a very good set that complimented Ramirez's techy side. Ideal dropped it good also, just a tad more on the electro side that i wasn't expecting. So it was a strong night for the openers and Mark Knight for me...

Also thanks again Ideal, you guys always step it up when issues arise. You NEVER see this anymore in the mainstream/major scene.

Really? man I must have missed that big house tunes because I didn't hear them at all after I left the dance floor because I got tired of the continuous tech house. Don't get me wrong, Mark's got some great tracks that a tech house but I get tired of it because most of the genre lacks melody (a reason I'm a big prog/trance guy I suppose LOL).

I was waiting to hear some of the big tracks from Toolroom, but he didn't seem like he was headed that direction from what I heard and we left around 1:30 - 1:45 I think because of it. Of course, my group was like the 4-7th people in, but that's another story lol.

Nero: I'm glad it got resolved. And yeah I did drop it a bit harder as I got to chat with Mark while taking him to his hotel and discussed his set the night before and his essential mix from last month and he said to bring it hard n darker as he was looking to do the same

Darth: you are right about expecting to hear some Toolroom hits which is why I refrained from playing any of em. Go figure.



And as for changes coming - tonight prepare for even better sound as tweeter arrays have been installed along with other goodies that are coming...

Yeah i was expecting mostly tech/darker stuff and some big room tracks sprinkled in. The middle of the set and on was just out of control, but it was more on the techy hard bassline side.
