WTF? Islanders... won?

Not exactly NHL, but soon enough. Granlund will be first round pick in the next NHL Draft. He is just 17 years old and he is has 5th most points in finnish elite league and has now most points in his team.

Unfortunately he just made 1+1 against my own fav team.

And oh yes. Islanders got 3 points!?

i will reserve judgment on my habs until after 20 games.

they can be awesome at times, then suck others...with so many new faces it is to be expected, but it is the old guard that is failing right now.

colorado, although being second in the west is 5-4-1 in the last 10. i hope this isn't when they lose momentum...

Posted by Schadenfreude on Nov-17-2009 16:16:

anderson is the "surprise" of the year. I use quotations because he was good in florida, but because the panthers have 0 coverage or interest in them it was sort of secret. Colorado will go as far as he takes them.

Habs are awful. They have so many injuries, and there is no way this team has a shot at the playoffs. I hope they trade away guys for picks so that they can finish low and stock up on more youth.

They should try trading with the Leafs

Posted by Schadenfreude on Nov-17-2009 22:44:

boston has the leafs first overall pick.

epic lol they just never do anything right

Posted by Quethas on Nov-24-2009 11:30:

Leafs had 61 shots last night and lost. Islanders won 4-3 in overtime. I'm lovin' it!

no caps, no

Posted by Schadenfreude on Nov-26-2009 16:28:

this thread used to be so much better

Posted by Ian on Nov-26-2009 17:29:

so did habs & caps. We need some new physios, stat!

Posted by Schadenfreude on Nov-27-2009 17:06:

markov might come back early.

man that would be so awesome, because we really really are missing his quarterback skills.

How about the Devils pretty much beating every top team in the league so far and still get no Love. They continue to just keep winning. They are deep as well. Loosing 7 starters at one time and for everyone to come up and step up and keep winnign they way there is huge. Guys are coming back and its makign the Devils that much stronger and not to mention MARTY in net.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Dec-10-2009 23:44:

the devils are a for real team for sure, just don't start planning that parade in june near the shithole they play in.

Posted by Ian on Dec-11-2009 09:30:

it's the year of the caps. With detroit not playing so good, if we can get past the arseholes from pittsburgh in the playoffs as we'll invariably meet them, we're in with a chance. It's a risky form of hockey and I know Jay you've said it won't be successful, but if I don't believe that I might as well just support the leafs

Posted by Schadenfreude on Dec-20-2009 16:44:

markov gets 2 goals and plays 20 minutes in his first game back.

Habs have sucked this year, (well other than the first line) but with Gionta coming back next game, Markov back and playing like he has not missed a beat, and Halak who is going to be used to trade and bolster the second line there is still hope for this season yet

The Lecavalier rumours are starting again. Rumour is Gomez, Halak, 1st + 2nd round pick for him. I don't believe it, because Lecavalier has been "traded" to Montreal since his rookie year, and the habs have always dreamed of their superstar francophone center.

I think if true, this would be a great trade. Both Gomez And Lecavalier suck this year and are making similar salaries. Why Tampa might be willing to take this on is because of the length of the contract.

Even if they have roughly the same cap hit, Gomez costs 30 million cheaper in the long run. I'll take Vinny over Gommer any day. I did not know what Gainey was thinking.

*crosses fingers*

The most realistic trade seems Halak to Philly for Scott Hartnell, or Claude Giroux which would still improve this team quite a bit.

I am also curious to see if the change of scenery for the high first round draft choice Benoit Pouilot is going to pay off for him. We traded Guillaume Latendresse for him, and it has worked a bit for Lats. Both players were pretty much similar, 2 guys who were supposed to be blue chipers and never quite reached that level yet.

If you don't want to watch the whole thing forward to 2 mins The guy has great hands, and played great winning Gold with Canada's World Junior team. He is said to be a bit lazy, which would suck...but this trade could actually have an impact on fully healthy Habs squad.

Mid season assessment: We spent the first part of the season nursing so many injuries, that we are lucky to still be in the race for the playoffs. It is really close in the East this year, and with a full squad and some reinforcements on the way I have a feeling we will finish 7 or 8th, with a shot of going deeper in the playoffs if Price continues to be dominant. His stats are misleading, his team rarely gives him a lead to work with due to never being able to start strong. They always seem to come back though and fight hard, so if we can get this straightened out there will be damage.

(no seriously, its dead)

But Carey Price still sucks.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Dec-24-2009 17:16:

He has had a good year, with good numbers, so that is false. I'm sure that Brian Burke would take Price over what he has any day...Halak too

goalies can't score goals
