They're both on there. Distant Lights and South London Boroughs are on Disc 2, Fostercare is on the first disc with the unreleased material. Its on beatport now.

By the way, I haven't seen anything that says this is going to be on his new album. This could have been an unreleased track from awhile back that they decided to throw onto the Hyperdub comp... His new album could very well have some different sounding stuff on it.

Actually, no. My argument is that music should be judged on how good it sounds, not on how creative it is. Know how many artists have become dogshit because they felt they needed to do something "new" just for the sake of it?

And yes, most artists do suck shit when they change it up, but those who can change it up and retain the attention and praise of their original and ardent supporters are held in high regard (see BoC).

Is it wrong for me to want that out of every producer? To be surprised by everything they bring to the table because it is both good, fresh, and original?

I don't really think so. And I think he has the capacity.

It's the classic problem when anyone creative has achieved success. If they continue with what served them well they're accused of becoming stale, but if they make changes then they're often bemoaned for losing it or forgetting what made them great. This pressure is on Burial because he's made such a successful album.

The obvious solution is to make a follow-up that has everything that made Untrue an instant classic and yet in a new way. Nothing complicated, then.

You're confusing creativity with originality. Being creative and making something new and different doesn't necessarily mean that you have to create something innovative and groundbreaking.

I quite like how this tune sounds, but that doesn't change the fact that this is a tried and tested formula that Burial has explored over two straight albums already. Why are you settling for something as safe as this? Don't you think he is capable of a lot more?

Anyway, I somehow doubt that the rest of the album will sound like this if it is released on Hyperdub, as Kode9 has always been dedicated to capturing the fresh London-centric sounds (which is probably why half his set when I saw him last weekend consisted of balls to the wall funky).

'fostercare' was finished just before the tracklist for the compilation was announced. it's about as new as it gets.

I want more hard, darkside, and yes, dancefloor stuff from burial. he's already shown he can do it with 'stairwell' and 'speedball2'.

still, I'm sure whatever he puts out, I'll gobble it right up.

I personally enjoyed the track, but how good the entire album will be remains to be seen.

Brilliant track! Maybe not his best work, but still very good imo.

it sounds the same as everything else to me. Hopefully the whole album will be a step forward.
