Why doesn't it work then?

Posted by gehzumteufel on Oct-08-2009 06:32:

Are you on XP?

Posted by junkproject on Oct-08-2009 06:53:

Another route is vmware and install xp in vmware. Vmware 7 is in beta right and is free to download.

Ive been running 7 32bit since spring. I like it!

Posted by KiNeTiC ENeRgY on Oct-08-2009 16:22:

I'm running Win 7 Ultimate...64 on my desktop and 32 on my work laptop. In one word: Awesomeness! 32 runs everything xp did and is even faster than xp. 64 has run almost everything except for a few converting programs and peer guardian does not work at all without using a tool to put windows in developer mode. I have the retail copy that was given to Software engineers, etc that a programmer family friend gave me. Love it!

Interesting.

Junk: Technically speaking, Win7 is completed and finalised and has already been distributed to OEMs, TechNet and MSDN subscribers, and MVPs.

Just to add...win 7 will accept both xp and Vista drivers for hardware. Haven't had any issues with hardware.

Except sound and video (xp). There are real issues with them. Avoid it if at all possible.

I am on the fence about getting my Vista upgraded to Win7
The upgrade came included with my recent laptop purchase

does it require updates every 2 days like XP and Vista?

lol XP and Vista don't require them every 2 days either. Plus don't be stupid and not install the updates.

]

OF course and then eventually you have to buy a new upgrade; do you see a pattern here?

Shut the fuck up already. We get you have a disdain for Windows. Fuck off now.

k, so I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on both my desktop and laptop, but now I'm having an issue on my laptop. I can't seem to get my functions (Fn key) to work whatsoever. Prior to this point I was running Vista Home Premium 64bit on my laptop without issues.

Any ideas?

I'm looking forward to receiving my free copy in the mail.

I have vista and hate it. Where can I get a cheap (or free??) update to 7?

Some kind of driver problem? When I first installed it, I had issues wit the trackpad scroller, but it just needed a driver. Weirdly, the Vista driver fixed it. Do keyboards need drivers though?

Yes, visit your manufacturers website and see if there are any drivers for your laptop.

Just like my computer, it is a software/driver issue. Pissed me off because I was going to use Linux on my laptop. Due to that, I couldn't. None of the FN combinations work without this damn driver.

Hi Ian! I was wondering where you were.

Posted by Ian on Oct-18-2009 21:32:

moved house after canada, the phone company who promised to move my contract then refused, cut me off, i had to pay them cancellation shit, i used another company using this first ones line (its all we have here for adsl) and they're fucking me around now, claiming no order has been placed etc. Thankfully someone is still stupid enough to leave their connection open, I got a laptop on thursday after wanting one for a while and the wireless at least allows me to do a couple of jobs online whilst I fight BT.
