Tomorrow! Any news on whether all three of them will be there?

Also, anyone know if it is still possible for would-be Tiesto attendees to claim free tickets for this? I requested mine on Sunday, but I haven't received a reply.

It's always 2 only when they go out of the country to tour, 1 stays in the office to take care of business. I know Jono is coming but dunno who the other be, hoping it's Tony!!!!!

Indeed.

Cosmic Gate was also on a Wednesday (even though it wasn't a Liquified event).

Prompters in Atlanta just don't have the money to bring big name trance acts to Atlanta on the weekend on a REGULAR basis.

Sure, there was the "Tiesto debacle" on a Saturday, but try bringing Armin here now for a Saturday night.

I'd like to go back a few years where we would have some of the "bigger" names here on Thursday nights. Those were awesome shows and people always turned out.

But alas, hip-hop "college nights" will always prevail.

Anyhow...I've got my day off tomorrow so I'll be jamming out tonight with my brotha Jack

I brought Above & Beyond to Atlanta for their first show here on a Friday back when it was Eleven50. The thing is that it can be done. The problem is that the bigger clubs dont necessarily want that type of EDM in on their big weekend nights where they are going to have a much more mainstream crowd there. Yes the artists are cheaper during the week but thats not always the reason for having them in during the week and IMO Liquified does a good job getting the right DJ's in the at right venues. Its too bad we dont have a big club in Atlanta that consistently wants to support good dance music.

They were relatively unknown at that point. Anyone could have brought them in here at that point in time so don't flatter yourself.

They're a top 5 act right now and have been for the past couple of years. Try bringing them on a Friday night now.

Atlanta HAD a great dance club for a while that was great for EDM - WETbar.

The problem in Atlanta is that promoters / club owners get greedy and / or have to find new ways of making more money or just trying to stay afloat.

All these club "closures" where they re-open under a new name is bullshit. It's always so incredibly short-lived, then it just becomes a very vicious cycle.

The Mark is a prime example of epic failure and Opera, if it continues its ways, will be the demise of EDM in Atlanta. Period.

No one is flattering them self. The point that you apparently missed is that it "IS" possible to bring top talent on weekends but that the bigger clubs are not going to consistently support something like that on a weekend night nowadays. They dont have to invest X thousands of dollars to bring in a headlining act when they have a good crowd there for a more mainstream night. WetBar was a good club but there again lies that fact the people who want to see major talent on a weekend were not coming out in the #'s to keep the night thriving and if they were, there just is not enough of them.

The point you're making isn't valid. Charlotte had Gareth Emery and is going to have Markus Schulz on the 20th and both are Friday events.

The problem is that everyone in Atlanta goes out to clubs on weekends just to go out. It doesn't matter who is playing music or what kind of music it is.

I suggest if you want to see trance on a weekend to drive to Charlotte. Oh and the Forum is a fucking awesome venue.

Definitely.

Johnathan when is Christopher Lawrence coming back? I would love to have him here again.

Wetbar had to close because they started having non-gay nights there and the gay community stopped supporting them.

I have actually put a lot of thought into going to Charlotte since they've been getting names like Gareth Emery, who's one of my favorites at the moment.

And I'm putting serious consideration into going to see Markus...

Don't even think about it! Just go you definitely WILL NOT regret it =).

You missed out for Gareth =( but that's ok go to Markus. If you're tired of the bullshit in atlanta go to charlotte.

I really wish I could go to Markus. =( oh well

My guess is about $30 at the door...

Great show opening by Boom Jinx, he was playing some good housey tunes with a couple of minor mistake on the mix. Above and Beyond came on about 12:30ish and played for 2 hours. It was Jono and Paavo that showed up last night. Paavo was REALLY into the crowd and working it most of the time. Mixing was spot on most of the time but the volume wasn't turned up until later at night

Great tracks played by Above and Beyond also, I don't recognize all tracks since I don't keep up with A&B or the trance scene as much anymore

I have a couple of videos I can upload later this week

Here are a couple tracks that I heard throughout the night:
Dirty Vegas- Tonight (Above and Beyond Remix) (opening track)
Above & Beyond -Anjunabeach
Wippenberg- Pong
Sander van Doorn- Ninety
Mike Koglin & P.O.S. - Autumn (Neptune Project Remix)
Super8 & Tab - Irufushi
Lange feat. Sarah Howells - Let It All Out (Ronski Speed Remix)
Paul van Dyk- Nothing but You (Super8 & Tab remix)
Oceanlab- Lonely Girl (Above and Beyond Remix)
Oceanlab- On a Good Day (Above and Beyond Remix)
DT8 Project - Destination (Above & Beyond Remix)
Oceanlab Miracle (Above & Beyond Club Mix)

Encore:
Oceanlab- ID (new)
Oceanlab- Sky Falls Down (??Passive Progressive/OceanLab- Sky Falls Down Hide Away??)

Amazing night! Boom Jinx's opening set was incredible, and I was thankful the place didn't really fill up until Above & Beyond started. I don't recall any specific tracks from the opening set, but I found it to be much progressive and trancier than what we usually hear at Opera before a massive trance set.

Unfortunately, by midnight the room was packed, and I was already drenched and exhausted, but it was still an awesome show. The highlight for me was DT8's Destination. I also like how Paavo wrote messages on his laptop for the audience -- after Tonight, for instance, he let us know "TONIGHT IS ABOUT YOU." I was too far back in the crowd to read the second message, though. Did anyone catch that one?

The set ended a little early, but they set aside time for autographs and photos.

Calamar: Hey, Paavo! Any words of wisdom for aspiring trance producers?

Paavo: Yeah, try not to sound like everyone else.

Jono emphatically agreed.

And yet, judging by that snippet of tracklist, they're still hammering the exact same artists they were 5 or 6 years ago...

Gareth rocked it...Above and Beyond were OK...

It is tough to call anything epic at Opera...I went to Above and Beyond around 12:30 or so. It was OK. I really liked Gareth Emery and the Forum last week....He is for sure number one on my list right now.

I am looking forward to Sanchez in a few weeks....maybe a tad older crowd will come out????

Heading to Utah Saints @ Halo tonight...check this video...good stuff.
