"The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists - the Taliban and Hamas this morning - in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize," DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse told POLITICO

Lmao @ Wikipedia:
quote:
On October 9, 2009, U.S. President Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize less than one year after his taking office (in fact, the nominations closed on February 1, about 11 days after Obama took office). While the committee praised his ambitious foreign policy agenda, it acknowledged that he had not yet actually achieved many of the goals that he had set out to accomplish. Former Polish President Lech Wałęsa, a 1983 Nobel Peace laureate, commented: "So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far. He is still at an early stage. He is only beginning to act." Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad noted that "WTF??? Nigga wanna BOMB us".

I would laugh if Obama indeed had to start a war against Iran during his presidency.

Nobel:

Posted by The17sss on Oct-09-2009 15:29:

LOL @ liberal commentator Ezra Klein's Twitter response:

quote:
Obama also awarded Nobel prize in chemistry. Hes just got great chemistry, says Nobel Committee.

It's also being thrown out there, and this is an interesting point, that it's less about Obama worship and more about the Nobel committee warning him against taking tough action on Iran, Palestine, Afghanistan, etc.

Sayeth one person, "This fully exposes the illusion that is Barack Obama. And with this award the elites of the world are urging Obama, THE MAN OF PEACE, to not do the surge in Afghanistan, not take action against Iran and its nuclear program and to basically continue his intentions to emasculate the United States. They love a weakened, neutered U.S and this is their way of promoting that concept."

Gotta love political discourse in this country.

R: "Democrats are all commnist-lovers!"
D: "Republicans are all terrorist-lovers!"

That said, he's got a point - how is this Obama's fault? No matter what happens in the news, the Republican noise machine is out spinning the wheels to make it the President's fault. The Nobel Peace Prize isn't awarded by the White House - in fact, they appeared more stunned than anybody else this morning.

Yo Barack, I'm really happy for you, imma let you finish, but this is the most preeemptive nobel prize of all time!

I'm really shocked you can win a nobel peace prize before actually doing anything significant

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Oct-09-2009 15:33:

Also:

quote:
"I did not realize the Nobel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota," wrote Erick Erickson, of the site RedState.com, "but that is the only thing I can think of for this news."

But it's the Democrats who play the race card all the time, right? If there's anything that the last two weeks (Olympic announcement + Nobel announcement) has revealed, it's how froth-at-the-mouth-batshit-crazy the conservative movement is becoming.

If anything, that happened in 1973, when people actually had the bottle to give the prize to Henry Kissinger.

So, it looks like you can get the Nobel Peace Prize just for not being George W. Bush in office. Splendid.

LOL @ liberals who've already forgot about 8 years of unhinged rabid hatred at anything and everything Republican.

btw- I don't see anyone promoting the idea that it's Obama's fault; everyone knows that even he and his camp were shockingly surprised. The joke is on the Nobel committee.

Yea, but that unhinged rabid hatred was justified because look at where they put us and almost from day 1 of the Bush administration everyone with a brain knew this was not going to go any place good (secret white house meetings with energy companies, etc).

Republicans have not a grain of salt to stand on right now, like everyone keeps saying, its too early. There has not been any radical changes yet. Bush was already into his 1st war by this time in his presidency.

I think it's a clever tactic by the Nobel committee to manipulate American foreign policy. When was the last time Norway had such influence on the world?

you mean... like the secret white house meetings Obama had with PhRMA where he promised not to affect their financials too much if they backed his health care reform? Pot. Kettle. Black.

Huh? Yeah because 9/11 happened 9 months into his presidency. You're making my point that there's zero reason to award Obama with the Nobel Peace prize by saying there hasn't been anything accomplished yet.

I never said he did deserve it. He doesn't, Obama even said he didn't deserve it.

This is a non-story in relation to Obama himself.

You've used the "but other people did it and it made me mad when they did, so now it's ok that I'm doing it too" argument an awful lot lately.
