the rane is lovely, but $2k for a gain pot and fader? Another $1.5k for the eq unit?

the Ecler's have amazing sound and the faders are like buddah!

some of the examples posted might have awesome soundquality but the interfaces are beyond terrible imo. who the hell needs balance? or separate eqs for left and right? lol. sometimes i wonder what kind of people work on dj-mixer business, i can tell u one thing, its not djs.

Yes, the bozak are not that intuitive but actually to a front of house engineer, having eq control for left and right is not such a bad idea as most club systems are dual mono and most clubs are not equal in terms of acoustic design or symetricality of space. Most master PA system controllers (zoning maps etc.) have full eq's for each channel - this mixer just has them a stage earlier.

a dj is rarely in a position to know what the sound will be like on the floor anyway, i wouldnt dare set the eqs differently on each channel atleast. maybe im missing something..

Different time, different type of music. When the Bozaks and Urei's were commonly used most records being played were recordings of live instruments, and were mixed in a studio not necessarily for being played on club systems. Having the balance and channel EQ's could help to "even" out the sound on the floor.

The Rane is a much more modern version of these, and most agree sounds better with digital sources. I don't know where the above poster got a price for this, you can purchase both the mixer and EQ unit for about $1700 USD.

Anyway, back to the OP:

PMC 55 still remains one of my favourite ever mixers- everything about it just works.
I use a 46mk2 mainly at home and i have an original urei 1620- (pre panpot model...)

you should also look at A&H S6 (more affordable than the V6) Rane MP2016 and a Urei 1620 reissue (or original if you have deep pockets)
vestax PMC 46mk2 (or mk1 ) is a superb mixer- both rotary and again, quite affordable.

Buying this stuff new is for muppets....do your homework and buy used and you will pick up a superb mixer for peanuts (as long as its not an ex install mixer thats been trashed...)
Saying that, HTFR in the uk are selling the urei 1620 reissue for around �300- and that is NEW not used.. one for you tonconsider since you say that is your dream mixer.

Actually what is the 580 like - heard great things about but never used one.

Totally agree, the 55 just does what a mixer is supposed to and it does it so well but also love the 46 which for house is the benchmark.

Ryan - the 2016 and eq unit are just over a grand each - you might well get a deal somewhere but really you're looking at $2k for the bundle and that's a lot of money.

Lol I own a MP2016a and XP2016a, and I paid $1700 shipped. The EQ module is much less than the mixer.

It's worth every penny. Fantastic sound and build quality, tons of inputs, and it's JUST a great mixer... no fancy effects or gizmos.

Well, that's a good price for a very good mixer but in Europe (and indeed the rest of the world) it's quite a bit more.

I wonder if PSSL have anything to do with the company of the same name in the UK?

If they do STAY THE FUCK AWAY everyone reading this. They are serial bankrupts (on purpose) and change their name every so slightly every 18 months.

OFFT, I think people are beginning to realise that the built in FX trend was bollox and gimmicky, and people are slowly heading back towards great sounding mixers that do what they are meant to.

i bought my first analogue mixer in pssl, A-H xone 22

I have that Urei 1603 mixer. Its pretty awsum. I really like the sound and overall feel. I highly recommend that product.
