Death makes sad stories of us all - Membrillo
Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for. ~Epicurus quotes (Greek philosopher, BC 341-270)~
Always liked this one:
A wise man asks himself for the reasons of his misstakes. The ignorant ask others.
And I think I picked these two somewhere on TA:
Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him, you then have a motivated idiot.
Happiness is like peeing yourself. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel it's warmth.
"The first couple years that youre making stuff, what youre making isnt so good its not that great. Its trying to be good, it has ambition to be good, but its not quite that good. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, your taste is still killer and your taste is good enough that you can tell that what youre making is kind of a disappointment to you. A lot of people never get past that phase and a lot of people at that point quit.
And the thing I would just like say to you with all my heart is that most everybody I know who does interesting creative work, they went through a phase of years where they had really good taste and they could tell what they were making wasnt as good as they wanted it to be. We knew that it didnt have the special thing that we wanted it to have and the thing to do is everybody goes through that. And for you to go through it, if youre going through it right now, if youre just getting out of that phase or if youre just starting off and youre entering into that phase, youve got to know its totally normal and the most important possible thing you can do is do a lot of work. Do a huge volume of work."
- Ira Glass, American public radio personality, and host and producer of the radio and television show This American Life
People normally define themselves as what they are not, rather then what they are. But you are, at least a bit.
-Dervish / Today 22:11
The earth is what we all have in common. Wendell Barry
It is not necessary to delve into everything in your life and try to figure out where it came from, why it is present, and so on. You do not have to ferret out each example of ego, doubt, lack, fear, or any other expression you see as negative. Instead, in the moment of realizing it, you can accept it, forgive yourself... for judging yourself for that expression, and move to loving. When you do that, you flood yourself with the Light and love of your own beingness, and in that loving, all is forgiven.
This does take discipline, and you can do it. It is a matter of choosing -- again and again and again -- to love yourself. You do deserve your own love.
- John-Roge

Chomsky failing at linguistics:
"The verb perform cannot be used with mass word objects: one can perform a task but one cannot perform labour. How do I know? Because I am a native speaker of the English language."
You can perform magic.

Considering the bum wrap South America is given on this site, even facetiously, I'm surprised you'renot more of an advocate. Few have done more to try and show an otherwise benighted public the injustices done to the people of Latin America.
