Loved the venue, the lasers, and the people. Fun times on these aspects! <3 <3

Music was LAME and uninspiring.

Shoulda went to Paco.

PS: Sucks that A&B got Booed at the end. Yes, they werent up to par, and the cut off WAY WAY early, but lets have some manners, people.

Boo'd? I thought the crowd was complaining that the event ended so early/not enough A&B play time. Hope Jono and Tony didn't take it that way... at least speaking for myself i was upset that the set ended so abruptly. *blush* Where were you guys?

well of course! I was pissed, too, it felt like the night was only half over!! but booing is innapropriate because one never knows who its aimed at and how they might take it. I was mad, too, but I am not going to BOO somebody! sheesh!

we were all up at the front left (closest to the bar!)

like z said there was definitely a track that sounded very, very similar. and with them playing that dirty randy katana track and the way out west remix, i don't see why sign of the times or a similar track wouldnt :P

of course, maybe i spaced out during a song i didnt like and just played sign of the times in my head. lol.

Posted by AY STAR on Nov-01-2009 22:34:

from the look of that t/l it looks pretty good
i remember at a few points in the night while listening to their set i was suprised i was hearing some pretty good trance besides all their anjunabeats stuff that they usually just whore out

the majority of the night i was mostly just socializing and i didnt really pay attention to the music like i wanted to, but from what i heard out of them i would go see them again

fun night all around

no, i def hear that too...i even told my friend next to me that it was a markus schulz production and she agreed with me.

Posted by SebG on Nov-01-2009 23:20:

Yes, Finally a track that i can ID

DT8- Destination (above and Beyond remix) right after activia. (i think) When i heard this i went HOLY SHIT i havent heard this in a looong ass time.

This was my first time at Roseland ballroom and i really liked it even though it was packed. The sound and laser and people, it was awesome.

I got there right before 1am so i missed zacks set, but MY GOD!!!!! Fredde was freaking killing it. I was loving every single track, very energetic!!!

Above n Beyond was pretty good too, but like everybody else, i thought theyre gonna play longer or at least an encore. I didn't hear Alone tonight, but the T/L was pretty good.

Last but not least, it was Freaking awesome to see the Regulars being out and having pure fun!!! ROFL @ peoples faces when they saw me, like WTF is this?

Such a good night!!!!!!

Dunno

Surprisingly, disappointed. First, can we talk about that crowd? I know they want more people to go, but for real, can we have a 21+ event just once? You could tell half of the people were there for the party, not the music. The kids (emphasize on the word kids) were out of control. Some of them looked like they belonged in a mosh pit rather than an A&B show. I love to dance and go crazy, but if you have people cloistered together like that, have some common sense! An injury by some a-hole early in the night left me limping the rest of it.

All in all, I had hoped for better. Fedde was good, I haven't really been a fan of his until now but that def made me one. great closing! A&B wasn't what I had hoped for at all. They pumped up the base so high that you could barely hear the melody. Maybe I'm just biased because I was so pissed I couldn't stand on my left leg half the night, but whatever. Hopefully they'll be better next time.

PS If you're gonna wear wings, take care not to smack people in the face every time you turn.

Posted by Leniu on Nov-01-2009 23:44:

i thought fedde was pretty good and a&b were lame, left about an hour after they came on because their music just wasn't doing anything for me

Posted by tedbarresi01 on Nov-01-2009 23:53:

Above and Beyond basically ruined the night after playing only a 2 and a half hour set. I mean i was expecting them to play til minimum 5 possibly 6 since it was halloween. Really disappointed with that. I mean no encore which was one of the lamest things ever. Had a great night but could of been a whole lot better with just even another hour of them.

Posted by j0kr187 on Nov-02-2009 00:01:

I know for a FACT that they played a section of "Sign of Times (Markus Schulz Remix)"... if any of you have the the song, listen to ~1:00-1:03.
They had that looped, but never got into the actual "song"... When I heard it i was going crazy...

But, i'd like to say once again that Fedde KILLED IT. Never had so much fun dancing... he had such great drops and the energy was out the roof! Does anyone have the TL of Fedde, or know where I can find it?

Posted by Excess on Nov-02-2009 00:11:

i'm pretty sure it's roseland ballroom that prevented above & beyond from playing any longer. the crowd was fairly annoying at first, i thought to myself this was probably the most annoyed/uncomfortable i've ever been. but after readjusting through the crowd a few times it wasn't so bad.

and i knew i wasnt hallucinating and definitely heard sign of the times somewhere in there. lol.

and as for the wings thing, JBar, those things are a lot harder to maneuver with than i thought. i had a pair on for like 3 minutes, jokingly, and couldn't avoid smacking those around me with them to save my life.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Nov-02-2009 00:17:

yeah - i really don't think it was up to above and beyond to just stop playing. If you don't know the facts, don't go accusing them of shutting down early as if it were their fault.

I got there SUPER late but I had a good time. Above and Beyond played good for their style. No one is really expecting them to bang it out or anything.

Glad they didn't play many vocals.

Everyone who dressed up looked super cute.

The fuked up section on the left side of the stage smelled like Pepperoni Pizza when I was leaving - don't ask.

I'm not sure what song this is. But i can assure you it was not Sign of the Times.

About 3 releases came out later summer early fall that share the SAME exact bassline in the SAME exact key as Sign of the Times. I'm not sure who's ripping who off but, ya know?

Here's an example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsmI...rom=PL&index=67

Def wasn't this track last night though. I have absolutly heard last night's track before. Just don't know where. Prob TATW.

Anyway my thoughts on last night:
Super good time. Fedde had some awesome transitions. Sound is amazing as always. A&B played a good set. I dug it alot. I really can't complain. Tony was really nice meeting him as well despite being sick. Hope he feels better.

Posted by BradMiller on Nov-02-2009 00:25:

I was at Paco so I can't really comment on the set, but in A&B's defense it's pretty much entirely up to the promoter / club who decides how long their set will be, when the show ends or if they even get to play an encore. I'm always surprised when they won't allow atleast one more song, but the reality is that once the bar closes there's no more money coming in and every minute they're losing on security costs. Lame I know, but unfortunately it's the way things are..

Glad to hear Zack and Fedde rocked though!

i think everyone is talking about the minute mark of k&a - grrreat because i was sober and don't remember sign of the times even being looped.

lol fuck. you got it hahah what the fuuuck those basslines are like 100% the same

Posted by DJ_Rafnel on Nov-02-2009 00:45:

I remember the bass line for sure. Sober as well. Probably that track i've heard before. Most likely wouldn't have been looped. I mean for all we know it could have been a mash up or something. Most likely not. Sick bass line for sure though. Gets everyone moving.

However, it was def in the same key. I wish i knew what track it was lol, its like in the back of my head somewhere.

Grrreat was played a few songs before I heard Sign of Times... I made sure I made a note of it, because I knew it'd come up here lol. But I could be wrong. I definately know the difference between those two songs though.

thats exactly why I said the "boo-ing" was totally uncalled for. I was pissed off, too, but I also heard rumors that Tony was very ill, that the promoters shut it down, that A&B were only paid for 2 hours, etc etc.....who to believe?

and who really cares? Why try to dissect who to blame, because rumors are just that. The point of the matter is that it sucks, but we cant take back last night, so I guess we will just have to get over it! Hopefully, whoever DID shut it down so early will just see the complaints and adjust for future shows.....Thats all we can really ask.

Posted by nhjason on Nov-02-2009 00:57:

I thought Zack had the best set of the night -- he absolutely killed it. I thought Fedde's set was really good. A&B almost lost me in the first third of their set...I wasn't really feeling it, and the people around me weren't either. I think A&B did a nice job of bringing up the energy level in their set, and the second half of the set just flew by.

The booing only started after Roseland turned on the lights, which was after several minutes of the crowd cheering after A&B's set. So, I can't believe that A&B would take that personally.

Oh yeah, I'm all for Made making all their events 21+...the teenagers were killing me.

Posted by DJ_Rafnel on Nov-02-2009 01:04:

Personally with the whole getting shut down thing. It sucks that people would boo and stuff. I mean come on. You got out of your house, to see some of the best DJs in the world do their thing for you. You have to understand that they flew 16+ hours or some odd number just to play for you. I think people should really appriciate this stuff more you know?

Anyway, as far as the Cosmic Gate/Claud9/K&A thing(thanks for mentioning that too, i do remember Grrreat now)

Im throwing something together real quick and ill upload it ASAP, hopefully it will show everyone just how similar those songs sound lol. I can't even believe it myself.

this.

I mean the crowd was all zombied-out. Of course they didn't want it to end at 4 am! Bollocks.
