agreed.. he's very technically sound, but his sets are a bit boring at times just my opinion

He's one of the few prog DJs in BC aside from TAs that actually buys shit from the UK and keeps up on good releases. I heard him play a couple of recent whites last time around that will never be released and were extremely limited (Archive - Numb, for one). Overall he makes a great opener for a guy like Tiesto because he plays danceable beats that aren't too energetic, so after a couple hours of that Tiesto comes on and drops his crazy trance and the place goes nuts. You wouldn't want someone like me opening for Tiesto because I'd play stuff that was too similar to what he was playing, and as a result there wouldn't be as much excitement when he came on.

hmm...i have never been to Commodore Ballroom...
is this a club or something? if yes,can anyone tell me something about this place? how is the sound system ...etc.....
also how long is tiesto gonna to spin at aug 15?

thanx for the tips

DJ Sean - You are tottally right, Kevin Shui is a great opener because he knows what he is doing. His set builds all the way till right before Tiesto and his last few tracks get pretty pumping.

Also it would be a career killer if you open for Tiesto playing the same type if not better stuff than he was going to play. That is the ultimate disrespect.

Hegoru - Progressive is boring but I still love it. The last Glamourpuss party got really boring because every DJ was the same darker progressive and after the 4th DJ cam on I left.

But when Kevin opens for Tiesto its always a great set.

I don't remember seeing that post but...

Commodore is a club on Granville, it has a capacity of 999, it is a classy joint. It has like 4 bars inside. The sound system can be very load when cranked and I don't recommend standing by the subs too long.

Tiesto will probably play for 2 hours

thanx for the info jesten..
now i am interested to go...

Last time he ended up playing for 2h 45mins, and the time before about 2h 30 mins. They're usually pretty good at the Commodore about letting shows run later, hopefully the 15th will be no exception.
