I tried watching becuase she is hot.
But it was supppper lame and booring!!!!!!

Ah Dollhouse, it never really had a chance it deserved...still a season more than Firefly thats something. Guess in about 20 years Joss will finally be able to put a show on tv that will have a decent run if this trend continoues. Sooner if he learnes the lesson he apparently didnt before and gives the middle finger to fox.

The big wigs have a nasty habit of axing my favourite shows...at least Chuck is still on the air for now.

--------SPOILER----------

I can't believe Summer Glau got shot in the face! I love Summer she was only in like 2 or 3 episodes!

The finale sucked I thought. The way they killed off **** and went on like it was nothing..and Echo only destroyed the "backups" of the main bad guy at a single location. Surely he is going to get restored somewhere and be able to start wiping everyone again? It didn't seem like a true finale but it is understandable since they were rushed to kill the show.

Oh well, at least Caprica is on now. I thought the pilot kicked ass. You watching it pk?

Just started watching it. Pretty entertaining. Epitaph One was so damn random and irrelevant, though. Must have been solely a sales pitch to the network.

************, she'll get another job.

Indeed, firefly was great and angel was pretty good, but overall Joss Whedon is a little overrated.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Feb-09-2011 07:25:

buffy far outstripped angel in quality.

They canned Stargate Universe as well
It was the only actual science fiction show I started to like in recent years

SGU was an attempt to bring battlestar galactica awesomeness to the SG universe. havent seen SGU myself but that appears to be the general consensus.

you should check out the pilot for BSG and see if that's something you might tolerate. and its not just nerds that think so

time magazine's #1 show

Posted by Lilith on Feb-09-2011 10:44:

Yeah I watched BSG, still of the opinion that it was ok but like SGU, it falls into the whole "Americans in space with technology and guns, oh lets put someone in it scurrilous... just so we dont alienate the cousin rooting audience of inbred Americans living in the state of ______, we'll give them a British-Isles accent, because all foreigners are bad"

Its a little over-done to death by various hollywood hacks. I do like SGU because the people in it are a bunch of bumbling tourists with no idea what the hell they're doing

Maybe, but I can't be fucked watching more than 2 seasons and still waiting for it to stop being cheesy.

Although admitably angel had some cheesy bits later on.

sgu was too slow paced to hold my attention. i really wanted to like it though, i even watched the entire first season, however, they just relied too heavily on the drama of the characters and i didn't find the majority of characters interesting in the least bit. i am watching stargate atlantis now, and it is a really dumbed down version of sgu but at least there is more action and most of the characters are watchable. the only guy i really liked on sgu was the nerdy young guy. the other characters did have their moments but at the end of the day it was like a soap opera in space and i feel that's not what most scifi enthusiasts desire.

you cant have a space opera without guns! Thats the rules.

yeah, I dont put that much thought into shows but i suspect the fact baltar had a british accent was more related to the fact that callis was born in Britain

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Feb-10-2011 03:59:

I loved dollhouse because they used all of the sexy men from BSG minus Adama's son.

Action movies in futuristic settings aren't actually science fiction in a pure form, which is about people in a futuristic setting and not always necessarily how the technology challenges them, it may inspire our imagination at times with fantastic things. But most of the time the challenges they face are something most people can relate to except in the most extreme situations.

Someone should do a headcount of American movies one day of all the British actors that play bad-guys in film and television.

well hardcore nerds (ie more hardcore than me) will tell you science fiction is all about the science and the representation of plausible scientific advancements based on real knowledge we have now, and other wankerisms. i agree that stuff like BSG isn't "pure" scifi by this kind of metric, but as far as tv shows go there must be guns and war and murder in your space opera. without the conflict, the opera is a little lacking. there's always a war in space, because it looks so cool!

well, i think its more experiencing common themes in those extreme situations. i ask you- is it dramatic that buffy has to break up with her boyfriend or is it dramatic that she turned him evil with her vajayjay, had to kill him and send him to hell after he'd turned good again, in order to prevent the destruction of the world?!!!!

Posted by shaw on Feb-10-2011 15:56:

Season 2 is getting interesting. I can see why this got cancelled; the entire first season was just background and character building. Most people probably gave up on it by this point (about halfway into 2).
