Downloading now. Next on my list to listen to

Last night I took an hour long ride in a bus and listened to this. So there I was, high as a kite, and half way through there's a track where this guy starts moaning or something like that. Nearly crapped my pants because I thought the old guy sitting behind me is dying. Freaked me out.

Absolutely loved the first half of it. The rest was good listening, too.

hilarious.

I'm only about 1/3 of the way through but there's been lots of great tunes so far, and the mixing is pretty tight. Nice job!

Denys, seems like we always end up playing a lot of the same tracks. I used that Joris Voorn track in my latest demo as well. (Not that it is completely far-fetched since that's a popular tune, but it's a good one.)

Unfortunately, my recording went haywire and I'm going to have to re-do mine.

Anyhow, will get in on this download as soon as I can.

Also, lol @ your sig, just saw that as I clicked reply.

Reaaaally nice mix. Probably my favorite from you. Which is weird because prior to listening to this I grabbed some of the tracks by themselves and they didn't do too much for me, but you managed to make them rock in this set. Good one.

actually funny you bring that up. while listening to a recent danny howells set i heard him drop Cobblestone Jazz Dump Truck. unbeknown to me i actually had it but it was an afterthought - never really got into it when i got a hold of it back in 07. while i was dropping That Whole Thing i was like "hmmm Hit Girl would go really well with this" so i dig up the track and in the same folder was Dump Truck. and it hit me that it was the perfect follow up. so after two years that i bought the track and deemed it unusable - i end up rediscovering it through another DJ (and a rather amazing one) and using it myself to a good capacity.

leads me to believe each tune has it's own place and time and maybe i shouldn't be so quick to discard some of them.

totally agree with the last sentence there. when dump truck first came out, i hated it. i hated that "wah-wah-waaaaaahhhh" synth. but after listening to it a few times and hearing it mixed well, it really grew on me and now i love playing that track. it's a ton of fun to mix with. i use it as a tool pretty often and mix it with another track in the same key- about halfway through the track there's a rhodes solo that sounds good layered on top of something else.

that, and the percussion fucking kicks ass in it.

I got to this last week but never got around to commenting...This was very nice and groovy, lots of really good tracks. This is the house I like to hear. Will probably keep this around to give a couple more listens and I will definitely be following your mixes more in the future.

i wanted to be cool like everyone else and put up a pic... hairy forearms and all... anyway.

thanks for listening guys, i really appreciate it. definitely agree which a few opinions out there that this might be my best mix ever.

over the past couple of years i've definitely discovered and refined the pace and style of mixing i'm really into. this mix pretty much defines it.

also look at it as a cultivation of sound, influenced by a lot of people out there (especially on TA).

did not see this, added to the cue.

That Miss World track has been making the rounds like crazy as of late.

Great set here man, thoroughly enjoyable. Even turned me on to a few tracks I'd never heard which is always a plus. Flow + mixing + technical merit = A+

It's sure taken me a while to get to this but I finally began listening in the car this morning. I'm about 30 minutes in and I'm really diggin' it so far. Chunky and bouncy.

Will edit once I listen all the way through.

i've actually been curious to hear your opinion on this, oh spirit soul grandmaster.

Posted by woscar on Jan-08-2010 00:01:

If I said I liked this I would be lying, because I fucking loved it you "pretty nigga".

Like I said before, it's bouncy, techy, and I can imagine people raving their tits off to this in a club.

I got to be honest, when I heard "Dump Truck" creeping its way in I was a bit worried because it could have sounded awful but you pulled it off with grace. Actually, that last segment from "Dump Truck" to the end was my favorite. Had me chair raving on the car, lol.

Oh, and the mixing, flow, selection, et al was on point as usual.

Posted by denys envy on Jan-08-2010 00:41:

thank you brotha. means a lot to me

Dump Truck was definitely the "hail mary" of the set. it was either going to work or not. and lord have mercy it blended right in.

i have to be honest - i am really happy with this one. here we are some two months later and i'm still listening to this one myself going "omg did i really do that?" (in a good way).

so cheers to everyone who listened so far. i'm like a proud father. lol.

Deny, good god man... this is a really sick mix. I've been playing for 5 years so I wouldn't lie about music, Superb transitions and Wicked track selection.

25 minutes right now and i'm rocking out while doing some web design work.

keep it coming man. good job!
