I think essential mixes are over hyped anyway. Studio mixes are not really DJing for these guys. I'd rather see Shaun burn some club down than try to fit the breadth of his musical leanings into 2 hours with no real context.

The only thing EMs are really good for is increasing exposure.

perhaps now. Back in the day, it was a collection of the best of talent around, but that all died the day gareth emery got one

Well, to be fair, I didn't mention those because they are my favorites at the moment but because I think they would use their 2 hours to throw a curve ball like Jamie Jones did.

It would be interesting to hear Dixon make something in the same vein as his "Temporary Secretary" mix over the curse of two hours. I mean, all his edits this year have been fire and the guy has impeccable taste. Seth Troxler already showed he has balls on his RA Podcast where he played Michael McDonald and Jimi Hendrix ffs.

And Clovis, I don't have the luxury of having these guys play in my city every other weekend, so recorded mixes are pretty much the only way I can listen to them.

Quiet Village played Zeppy too and I see no one praising Edwards on this forum.

I like those guys too, but when you put out a set sometimes, we can almost tell what you are going to play 2 weeks before you make it.

No worries, I understand what you mean. I do try to dig as much as possible, mostly for older music but what sounds new to me often is old news to most of you guys.

I think that the fact that I'm not playing out is also affecting my tracklists, as I don't get the chance to play all my favorite tracks all the time and end up cramming them all in the same set.

A situation that I'm planning to take care of soon enough. I have the contacts to get me a monthly or weekly slot on a small club, but I've been such a pussy.

i'm just glad you took my comments with a grain of salt and not as an insult

you have the mixing down pat, all you need is to define your sound more You are young and could play out based on what i have heard.

This is a hypocritical statement in a way, as i will release a set next week that is the total fucking opposite of the sound i have tried to put out.

I don't want to gig at all though, i just want to show my supreme chin stroker skills.

ps you can play great music without only playing your favourite tracks. It reminds me a bit of the steve angello filler vs killer thread...you know? Bombs are only bombs if you set them up to be so.
