Eh, maybe it's just me but when I'm sick I try to distract myself from it as much as possible. The more my sickness is reflected in the behavior of people around me, the more I'm reminded how shitty I feel.

the same reason why a lot of guys like to talk about themselves as well? lol everyone does, it's human nature.

the important thing is that you listen to others as much as you talk. i hate people who don't listen and are clearly just waiting for you to shut up so they can talk.

I appreciate if someone gets me stuff in the morning, like puts the medicine easily accessible, makes sandwiches for lunch, etc etc that's cool. After that though I mostly like to be left alone.

Although when I was in the hospital not too long ago in agonizing pain from an infection in my kidney I did appreciate being babied around. I wasn't to macho during that time.

lol my best friend does this a lot thought she works VERY hard to conceal it

i'm a great listener and usually ask questions to make sure i'm understanding the story properly or to get more info because i'm nosey lol. i just genuinely take an interest in people (interesting ones, obviously).
