I didn't read your entire post

Doesn't apply to the OP at all, but everyone should at least try these to witness the bass.

about the price of the 595s, you definitely can find them WAY under retail online. I got mine for around $120 USD

Dr. Dre headphones are absolute shit. They don't necessarily sound bad but they have way too much bass (so I guess they do sound bad) and are very badly built. Every time I go into a store the band is cracked and broken. Pus, they are rather uncomfortable (imo). Last but certainly not least, they're $300. Why would you throw your money away on them when you can get better headphones for a third of the price?

No, it's not. Closed headphones for casual listening can get mighty uncomfortable.
It's personal preference but definitely something to be aware of.

cause you look like a "gangster" wearing them

I have the HD-595's. I love them but I found out that the HD-555's use the same exact drive in the headphones but has a piece of foam over it to make it sound muffled. You can actually take out the foam from the 555's and they sound exactly like 595's.

I wouldn't mind upgrading to the 650's in a year or so time. My 595s are about 3 years old now. However, if I upgrade from these I will also have to invest in a quality headphone amp.

My EMU 0404 USB is a great source so far.

as echo said, closed headphones have far lower listening quality, which is why they are only good for extremely noisy environments (such as clubs) when insolation comes before sound quality.

semi-opens (like the akg 240s) provide far more realistic and clear sound.

Erm, no. In a closed headphone, sound waves from the driver are trapped inside the cup. Thus, they bounce around and interfere with other waves. The end result is a shit sound. Closed headphones are only meant to be used where you need high isolation (DJing). For general listening, this is fatiguing because we are not used to hearing such highly isolated sound without room ambiance.

Open/semiopen are superior for general listening. Also, you're a moron who's just trying to stand up for the crap headphones he already bought, lulz. I, on the other hand, have 2 pairs of open headphones and 1 pair of closed headphones. Who is less biased? Yeah, you fail.

Go sit in the corner son, the men are talking.

Meat187: Kgo open/semiopen. As usual, very few people (Fledz, Egos) actually know what they are talking about in this thread. Everyone else is just trying to justify what they bought themselves and can't handle the fact that they bought a crap product.

some will disagree, and some will agree with that statement

Well of course some people will disagree, but that is because some people are dumbasses.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Nov-20-2009 01:26:

I have a pair of semi-open and a pair of closed, I think the semi-open are better for long-term listening. My ears used to get fatigued on the closed ones a lot more easily and I didn't find them as accurate for production (not that that's relevant for Meat187, just saying).

how the fuck are people going to disagree with facts???

or do they just bypass physics so they can look cool in closed headphones??

ohhhh, once again i'm underestimating the idiocy of other people..

Okay guys I have a quick question, I am thinking of getting the Ultrasone 900s but was wondering if I would need a portable amp to power them, or will my laptop and zune be enough

Posted by TranceOwnsLol on Nov-20-2009 12:20:

why the fuck would you buy closed headphones for casual listening...

get the sennheiser cx300, tried, tested and the design is simple. + the price isn't bad for what you get.

I told myself if I were to buy ipod earphones again I would just keep buying the cx300

btw: I use a sennheiser hd 25 mkII for DJing and use AKG for iPod listening since I have other priorities at the moment rather than buying earphones.

Apparently Creative EP630 are pretty much the same. Same factory, same components. Only difference is the CX300s are all quality checked to conform to Sennheiser specs..

This article on ebay about how to spot fake sennheisers, quotes an email from Sennheiser that seems to imply that Creative sells the same product:

I've heard bad things about them like poor quality. Best to stick with the Sennies.

He didn't ask for in-ears though, he wants actual headphones. I was responding to the other guy.

Grab the plane converter for about $10 while you're at it so you can plug them into your seat. So much better than the headphones they give you on the plane.
