The beginning just make me think of Nalin & Kane.

"Trance" as in the musical genre has loosely been defined by pasty uninspired bedroom nerds and bored veterans through using crappy software plugins to reach a final ouput that sees profit for themselves (the artists) and invalid redundant crap for the rest of the community, which only leaves us with with music sounding like each other, as if it were all a competition to see who makes more profit and has their polished arse of popularity carried up the DJ List.

Trance isn't supposed to make you go "meh" when you listen to it, it is meant to be thought inducing, soul-stirring and tear inducing. I mean, look:

Noun: Trance
1.A psychological_state induced by (or as_if induced by) a magical incantation
2.A state_of_mind in which consciousness is fragile and voluntary action is poor or missing; a state resembling deep sleep.

Give me a top 10 trance chart from any online store and try to convince me that any of these "productions" induce the effects of 'Trance' as stated in the original definition. If you can convince me, I will lick your anus free of charge.

Then get ready to eat your heart out raver boy, because it looks like I might go ahead and remix Big Sky with extra super saws and fart-noises tailored for your aural pleasure.

What about from Platipus' online store?

Remember, we are talking about "Trance" here... not that boring nintendo music. Or you could just call it minimal.

o.o

Uhhhhhhhh....

What?

And btw, why would I expect a reference to Platipus records?

Posted by Lews on Dec-04-2009 10:37:

Great use of sarcasm there, champ!

You're a moron.

No, but seriously, Platipus has put out some real trance lately and guys like Sasha & Digweed have both been playing it. Not all trance that comes out these days is this awful, inane shit. 95%, yes, maybe even more, but not all.

Can't forget that

To me personally trance always was synthesizer music with a disco beat. Screw definitions. And vocals don't change the genre.

Guess you wouldn't call these classics trance too then? To me they are not that different:

classic club tracks maybe. but classic trance tracks? No.
Besides I never understood the hype about Beachball.

1. Sky
2. Dawn
3. Silence
4. Embrace
5. Breath
6. Release
7. Mind

Man those lyrics must take the grand prize when it comes to incorporating maximum clich mumbu jumbo.

I can understand, but they get listed as trance since they got released. I fully agree they have a typical club rhythm and people think it's not trance. Guess they are on the edge of genres.

I like the baseline in the original also. To me it's 10 times more important how vocals sound than what's actually said.

Lol, remember that when "2Fabiola - Play this song" came out I thought they sang "Greatest song". Belgium club played it a bit to loud I guess

Remember. This is the same guy that said talent has to do with geographical orientation and English language exposure.

Posted by Lews on Dec-05-2009 00:34:

I've never understood the hype about Beachball either.

And Big Sky is one of the biggest things that is wrong with trance today.

Posted by osterzone on Dec-05-2009 04:32:

The song is bad, but when will you fucktards learn that not all music can stay the same forever without undergoing change?

Genres evolve, new styles develop, and some people like it and some don't.

I laugh at all the retards in here that constantly say "Anything released after [insertyear] is shit".

If you want to listen to "classic" trance then dig up old CD's and listen to classic trance instead of bitching about every new song..."WTF IS WITH THIS NEW UNINSPIRED CRACKER TRANCE DOOD?!?!?"

Posted by Lews on Dec-05-2009 04:39:

You're not even worth the time.

Osterzone, I fully agree. I experienced all the changes (because I'm that old) and never got bored with trance or had a feeling it went completely wrong. People should focus on what they like and not on what they don't, simple as that. There were loads of shit tracks back then I and I guess many others hated, but because they weren't popular no-one started bashing or complaining.
People who bought many compilations will know.

Haha man, I like you. However, you are without doubt TA's totem of anti-evolution when it comes to musical taste.

Oh and I don't recall anyone understanding what the hell you meant by that, since it just sounded like a clich escapade from an argument gone wrong. You like "Going Wrong" ? =)

Change is good.

Changing to utter bollocks isn't.
