The first hour of the party was cool, maybe thanks to flamethrowers and MDMA, but it was becoming more and more cheesy so I left and figured out there was Lee Burridge playing on the other side of the playa. Great night!

Anything infinitely more interesting than that shit club tracklist.

The soundtrack to The Big Lebowski would do great. Jazz; Coltrane, Miles...The Doors, Ravi Shankar...fuck, anything really!

If I was on acid in the middle of the desert getting deep this CD would be pretty much the last thing I'd want to hear.

What we get there. Dubstep and minimal, actually.
Or some IMPS shit for the desert-vibe, but not this, really.

Yeah, it's not like he's never played it or, hell, even remixed it.

I disagree, I think Carl Cox's music can definitely portray the hedonistic aspect of Burning Man. That said, I don't care how cheesy he is sometimes, I love me some big black Cox.

+1

always in for Coxy

Carl cox is to platipus what ludacris is to polka music.

Link is not working. Please try again. If you can link this correctly you might convince me that carl cox is the guy you want to book if you are after that platipus trance sound.

Probably. BM isn't just an acid-tinged spiritual odyssey, there are plenty of giant, straight-up parties and tons of people love cox' shit up there. You can't expect him to play big lebowski music on a 100k watt sound system to 5000 people.

Interesting, so for the first time in a long time, a GU disc isn't dedicated to a specific city. Last time I remember was GU 008 Nick Warren in Brazil.

I watched the video online and it doesn't sound like Carl Cox's sets at all, but then again I haven't watched him perform live in a few years.

Posted by darin epsilon on Dec-29-2009 02:15:

When is Danny Tenaglia doing another GU? He would be perfect for a Burning Man disc, his track selections are eclectic as hell.

Posted by Paradox Lost on Dec-29-2009 08:04:

I don't see why they would enlist him for another installment- the last one he did was back in 2000, with GU: London.

But then again, despite its reputation for predictability, the series has a tendency to occasionally make some pretty unexpected moves (if not necessarily good ones), so who knows...

No epic polish trance?

Meeh i skipping this..

Posted by woscar on Jan-22-2010 15:23:

Posted by jupiterone on Jan-22-2010 15:33:

doesn't sound like it's going to translate the whole experience of burning man at all

speaking of burning man, anyone going this year? the theme is metropolis, bound to have some affect on the brainnnnn
