I never participate in these kind of threads, but this one is so unusually European and cool I have to say welcome.

Hope you hang in there and don't suffer from SAD.

hang out around the DJ booth and you'll find the best fans and often time's TA's

Posted by captain-2 on Dec-11-2009 15:14:

Thank you for the download!!! I liked it a lot, even tought its not my favourite subgenre

Im sure the following has happened to most of you. When you start going out and discovering music in clubs, you are open to many styles and tend to remember that music as it brings back memories of the good times you had with friends. Even though it may not be your favourtie genre of EDM you will still have a place in your heart for it...

Once you grow older and start going more and more to clubs, you get to know the variety of styles and tend to select your favourite, your second best, the one you like at the beginning of the night, the one you wouldnt like to hear.. and maybe even inside the same style, different songs which you adore or simply would rather the dj would had left in his case.

Its incredible how a song, if it were to be isolated from the context you first heard it in, may not mean absolutely nothing to you and you would maybe say its ok if you heard it now as a new one, and how it changes into the "Music of your life" just by the experience and company surrounding it..

By the way, if you were to ask me now, I would be identified (musically speaking) with tracks like these: (hope you like them)

I like your style man. You will def love some of the Guv nights here! Straight up Aly & Fila Stilez
I definitely see that trance brings you back by this style, very epic and powerful, I love it too.
I've slowly catered my style and sound I like today so that it still brings back those memories and being in that company... but also blending it into the music that surrounds the sound of today. And since you're new Toronto, you'll probably see these events are pretty scarce in it's variety as far as location and atmosphere. So definitely soak them in when you can

Great!!!

By the way, yesterday we decided to go to This is London for the first time, so I got on the guest list on-line. We got the taxi at 10:45pm and it dropped us of around 10:55 at a place which wasnt This is London but Reign. I told the guy at the door that I was on the guest list and told him probably it was the most difficult name to spell + 6 but that all of us werent there. He said fine! and while in line we started saying This is london, and people said no, and we thought of course its Toronto!haha we found out when someone told us it was crossing the road!!!
We got there and I liked the place and music. I had a great moment when mixed with another song I heard this song...

that's too bad, because TOTA parties always rock, and it's a good chance to meet people who you'll be partying with all over Toronto

if you see a TOTA social event like wings night or whatever, come out and introduce yourselves. you'll meet a lot of great people who love same music you love this way

We'd never get such a welcoming vibe in the Montreal forum. What's the deal? Glad it's still to be found somewhere

Hello!

Holla

Posted by captain-2 on Dec-13-2009 17:05:

Hello again everyone and thaks for the warm welcome!!!

Well I followed your piece of advice and went to Guvernment yesterday to Benny Benassi. AMAZING!!!! I really enjoyed my time and danced like I hadnt danced in a long time!!!

I had interesting chats with people there too (the ones you can expect in a club) although friday+saturday going out without good sleep was a bit tiring so I went home at 3:10 more or less.

So, if its ok and to let you guys know, Ill just start with a small guide of what someone between 1998 and 2004 would listen in clubs and radio stations if he was into trance music in the north of Spain. Depending on the part of Spain you lived in those years, you would get different styles dominating the big clubs. In the north regions you would get Trance, Progressive, hard trance, in the Norhteast it would be more hardhouse, happy hardcore, trance and progressive and in the south it would be similar as in the North but with more Break Beat. The Madrid area had many influences and you could finde many styles and the Balearic Islands is another world! This is just orientation, nothing fixed.
Ill divide it into 3 stages, being the first one the years i started to go to clubs without the legal age yet.

1) the classics: Before going to Uni and driving to other places I stayed in my hometown and moms hometown and started feeling the need for more and more trance music. It was with songs like the following I started to love it..(oooo the classics...this was being heard in the north )

hope you enjoy them..ill try and do the next years soon! My personal favourite, is Destination Sunshine.

You could go around like I did at my first TA party, a long time ago for Tiesto at the Docks, and ask people if they're on TA. You'll end up meeting a lot of TA, and perhaps like I did, have some people say "No, I'm on E" lol
