Some thoughts from a post I made in the Studio Pr0n thread :

I sold my TI this past summer after owning it for about three years and designing a sound bank (see my sig). The main reasons:

*Using the Virus|Control is way too buggy and kind of sucked the fun out of owning a hardware instrument. The synth has gotten so damn complicated that you practically *have* to use the software interface to get reasonable access to all its features, but it's buggy and annoying -- always adding little clips and digital artifacts into the track as well as voices randomly cutting out when the CPU load goes up. Then, when you play through the track again, it would either sound perfect or there would be voices cutting out/digital artifacts somewhere else! Inconsistent and very annoying.

*I didn't feel the instrument was capable of anything that my current line up can't do better (Waldorf Q, Waldorf XT, Nord Lead 3, Alesis Andromeda).

*The instruments character is a bit too easy to pick up on. In this genre, I think it to be detrimental if someone can hear that you're using the same damn thing everyone else does. Makes you seem uninspired.

Yeah well one of our producers is selling a keyboard . It ia a roland JD-800 that he started at $0.01. And I was telling him not to start the auction so low because the JD800 sell for $700-800 on ebay but he said he want to price it low to sell it and buy his friends and family Christmas gifts Anyway... Now that you mention it and everything I think the keyboard is used by producers such as rabbit in the moon and armin van buuren. Anyway...

Yeah now that you mention it and everything it looks like this keyboard is still really low in price. With all the other Jd-800 keyboards on ebay at $700-$1200 this JD-800 is starting at $0.01 and it is still way cheaper than all the other JD-800 keyboards on ebay ...

i got a TI a couple of months ago.. and have never looked back. the sounds that comes out is amazing just wat i needed..

i have a mac. sometimes i do notice not dropping when im using alot of voices. which technically shouldnt happen but the next update hopfeully should finally fix it all. the last update fixed most things for me personally..in a couple of tracks lately ive used it on 4 or 5 different leads all going at the same time and its fine. and then sometimes ive used 2 leads and some notes drop. but i find that it never drops on just one lead.

i say get it. IMO
im loving life since i bought myn. seriously

alot of producer want the quick and easy route...there is none. you can produce phat sound on almost any vst... its all about learning sound design....then a couple of years down the line invest on a virus if you like that sound. Do not buy if you magical think it going to make ure tunes better cau u will be disappointed

Agreed. Very true. But the nice thing about the Virus is that you can resell it easily. Just try doing that with VSTis. Even if the VSTi company does allow you to transfer, they may charge you or limit the number of transfers. But even if they have no restrictions on transfers, you're still going to have to deal with them which is an annoyance. Access doesn't give a crap if you resell your Virus.
