weak! . Fraggle Rock is definitely part of what made love "Love".

The venue has been around since the 70's though, so I'm sure it's gone through many changes over the decades.

Knock down all the walls, that divide the place up , and put the dj booth at the very end.

^^^ This actually sounds like a good idea. With Fraggle Rock already gone, turning Love into one large room is probably the next best idea. The VIP thing is FAIL though. Love just isn't big enough for a VIP/bottle service section. I think if I had bottle service, I'd at least like to be able to hear the music in the main room clearly from where my table was .

Are they gonna keep booking EDM talent?

That is the effin WORST. One of my worst memories from there was being so crammed that I left the main floor for a bit. Then I find out that Zack played Pulsar-Cloudwalking and I almost had a toddler-aged-hissy-fit. LOL I was so mad!

One person says "bottle service" and everyone freaks out... Yes, I'm upset the cave's gone, but I didn't get any indication that they're going that direction, and TAs usually aren't reliable sources...

Not to mention, bottle service has been done there plenty of times... My friends spent a thousand dollars once at an event of mine and got bottles in the cave... So did TA's own Steven Neil, even had a bouncer keeping people out...

Don't freak out everyone, yes there's some changes I wouldn't have made, but the fact that Dubfire's there in a couple weeks, not to mention the same promoters (Dub War, Massive, Flawless, just to name a few) are still doing events there, don't lose your pants at the thought of it going non-EDM because a few people said the dirty word (bottle service)...

I could not really picture Love having any other style of music

I said bottle service but don't shoot the messenger, it was told by someone very reliable. Changes come when there is new ownership.

Word, I DID see some other changes, like new bartenders and some new managers, etc... A lot of people were complaining about the two new hot bartenders, they seemed out of it whacked haha...

One thing I wouldn't mind seeing happen at Love is weeding out some of the promoters that don't really do much numbers-wise and attract some of the ones that bring more to the table... Like, compare the draw a Blk Market Membership party does to one of those filler lineups Love has pretty often that brings 50 people into the place all night... Dub War brings big numbers too... That's the thing about that club that's always amazed me: one night you'll go in and the promoter of that particular night has 400 people in there... The next night, there's 100 people, it's really that DRASTIC, the difference from one promo group to another, in most cases...

I think Sullivan Room does a lot better job at keeping things regular and giving the right promoters more nights out of the month to do their thing...

Posted by Neonbeats on Dec-15-2009 03:42:

Why the hell are people mad about hot bartenders? wtf

Would be nice if they got more of an older crowd there, times I went there I felt I was at a highschool dance

Posted by Lira Yin on Dec-15-2009 03:53:

fffff, it doesn't have to be an 18+/19+ event to feel like a high school dance. Plenty of 'older' people acting like idiots can still kill the vibe of an event.

I don't know exactly what the plans for the former(! ) fraggle room are, but the change in management is true & has been true since Sept., and I just hope that whatever changes are made don't make Love lose the more intimate, underground feel that distinguishes it from other clubs. My hopes are iffy, but fingers = crossed anyway.

A lot of people are upset with the bartender changes. People liked the bartenders that were there and there really was no reason to get rid of them. I could walk up before and they just knew, vodka cranberry and a bottle of water, then more vodka cranberry, I like that. People like going where they are welcome and things are familiar.

I think blkmarket has success with that because of the way they market themselves with private events. When Love did some parties that you needed the pin to enter it was full, it worked because there was something exclusive about it(not just for Body and Soul, eww). It is a matter of marketing the right way for people that are actually interested in going out. It is also a matter of overcoming the vision of the new owner because this demographic is new for him.

I think Sullivan Room does well because it is consistent and because of the promoters.

Lira, I'm old enough to be your step mom and age doesn't bother me. Douchenozzles bother me.

Thanks Marcello.

- Love will still be playing EDM, and nothing but EDM. wOOt!
- In addition to the bar, they are now offering bottle service. (they always did, in fact.)
- It has not become a "bottle service" only venue.
- There is a new owner and with him have come some additions in the staff. However, the majority of the original staff are still there as well.
- The stripper pole has been removed. It was put up for a certain event and has been taken down.
- The Fraggle Room has been renovated but still serves the same purpose as a seating area. It is not a bottle service only area, anyone can sit in there. You can get bottle service there too if you wish.
- There is also new bench seating around the edge of the dancefloor. I think it's nice because it gives people a place to sit without leaving the music.

Boooo..... but the seats around the dance floor are a good idea, gives people a spot to rest for a few minutes

Posted by StarSoprano426 on Dec-15-2009 04:29:

I like the idea of making it one big room. That might be something they could think on for the future. Right now it's not realistic because the sound system that we all know and love is set up exactly for the acoustics of that back room. Knocking down walls and changing the floor plan would mean spending a ton of money not only on the renovations and legalities, but also on re-doing the sound system. Maybe one day.

To those freaking out about Love potentially turning into a "models & bottles" type of club...relax. I highly doubt thats on their agenda. Just because they are offering it (they have for years btw), doesn't mean thats going to be the club's bread and butter. As someone mentioned...Sullivan Room has offered bottle service for a long time, and its hardly "that" type of club.

About some of the other changes...its about damn time. As much as I love the venue, they have been in desperate need of some major changes for years now...both in terms of physical issues with the venue, as well as issues with how it had been run.
It sounds like these new owners have some good ideas about what needs to be done.

thank you! <3 exactly. Under-21s can be ridiculous, it's true, but there sure as hell isn't a sudden drop in douches from 20 to 21.

Datt devirginized that pole as soon as we walked in

They had to close it. The NYC Board Of Health was gonna shut them down. Allegedly there was hepatitis all over that room.

Posted by Konijn on Dec-15-2009 20:01:

they'll need a forensic cleanup crew and a sandblaster to get the ghb, cumstains, and ebola out of there.
