well since a large majority of the people didnt understand - or respond possibly - to what i said...its not that i was saying PVD was arrogant. in that circumstance he seemed quite arrogant.
i was just relating this to the oakie experience related originally. somebody did talk about the work aspect tho...neways. peace

Give it some time for PVD to start making BIG bucks and you people will rag on PVD also. "PVD is too commercial! He only plays for newbies! PVD is too popular!" It's what you people like to do. You're so anti-conformist that you become conformists. The way I can tell a trance newbie is when they jump on the "Oakie Sucks" bandwagon. Anybody whose been around long enough is already talked out about it, and now so am I.

BTW, I think PVD is great also.

hm, pvd doesn't seem arrogent to me nor does paul oakenfold. what pisses me off is those gay boy bands, 1 million dollars to host a party, big time sell-outs.

yep. and airbryant i'm not a trance newbie. you know all the personal experiences i've heard from TAs and friends that have told me how arrogant oakie is? i'm not saying he's a BAD dj. i respect almost all his work that he's done. and he spins well too. but personality wise, the dude can really use an attitude adjustment. telling someone that mann this crowd sucks is not cool. dismissing a small little group of 5 fans waiting out in the cold foryou for 4 hours is not cool. get my drift? good. i made no comment on his actual music. only that his djing went downhill for a while because of his attitude towards the crowd. that's it. i never said oakie SUCKS.

Well, I guess if I was in a bad mood I'd flame your ass for saying this. Oakenfold SUCKS. Yeah. There you go. Have you ever had the chance of listening to one of his sets LIVE, not that studio engineered crap. Have you ever seen him play premixed vinyl ? Have you ever heard him let a track play out before putting on a new one ? I have - and all that during a 2hrs set. Even the local warm-up DJs put on a better show than he did - and that for less than 0.1% of the price. Well, if that doesn't sound like a bad DJ then I don't know what does.

And I know I'll step on a lot of people's toes now but I have to say that PvD too is very commercial ... for a few years now, along with Tiesto, van Buuren and most other trance DJs. Do you think that they would be where they are now without commercialization ? I doubt that. No true underground artist would EVER demand the ammounts of money Oakenfold, van Dyk and co. demand for a gig. What happened to playing for the love of it ? Think about it.

Eventually everyone has to start working for the cash. I am sure they start out playing for the love of it, but as it becomes their full time job then the money becomes important also. I just think the whole Oakenfold sux thing is so played out and there is nothing to say that hasn't been said over and over. We should be talking about how great this new up and coming DJ is instead of talking about how much we hate somebody.

U got it all wrong the Newbies LOVE Oakie. A lot of ppl go into trance after hearing tranceport. Oakie is easy to ingest...he dumbs down the muzik.

DJ's have bills....it is their job. Pvd doesn't demand 23G's for 2 hours.

Skywarp, Back up what u say. Sayin Tiesto, AVB, & Tiesto are commerical w/no support or reasons isn't substancial.

speaking of nice djs.. when tiesto was in toronto for wintergalactic, i got the pleasure of meeting him. he was a very nice guy, took alot of pictures with us, and anyone that wanted them. you could just see that he was genuinely excited to be there. i am guessing he was just as excited about spinning for everyone, as everyone was excited to see him.

we were staying in the same hotel as him, and some of the people in our room said he was down in the lobby chilling after the party, and he was cool about taking even more pictures.

now this story takes the cake at wintergalactic 1, a friend had a tiesto record he wanted autographed. so he handed it to him on stage. not only did he autograph it, he dropped it on the decks and spun it for the kid. now thats what i call class

yoooo that's sick guy!! awesome guy tiesto is. never lost any respect for him. only gained respectz. same for pvd.

So what does everyone that says Oakey only plays Ubik, Silnce, Bullit in a Gun think about that WMC vid? I heard none of those songs, yet thats all he plays? That doesn't quite make sense.

Funny, but I noticed a lot of newbies LOVE PVD right away.. So what does that say, nothing, they are popular and those names get mentioned a lot.. thus Newbies download their stuff and sing their praises

I just don't get the money thing, if PVD got paid exactly what Oakie gets it doesn't bother me a bit... If you are in high demand you get paid more money, does that make PVD bad when that does happen to him, NO!... I would pay $60 to see PVD spin, I doubt however I would do the same for Oakie.. But thats my personal preference, doesn't mean lots of other people will...

This is his CAREER, would any of you turn down a raise because you love your job so much... HELL NO... hahahaha... Crazy stuff, you idealists are wacko, if you become famous you'll jump at the oppertunity to make money just like the big DJ's do..
