Yeah true the TI feature is useful. But probably not that much more amazing than an editor or the external instruments feature that comes with some DAWs.

I don't see why the lack of extra VST windows would be a consequence of USB 1.1 considering that your not asking for anymore bandwidth from the buss, only changing the interface. Its theoretically quite possible, but probably would introduce more bugs.

About a year ago I finally figured out how to use the External Instruments feature in Cubase SX 3. I don't see a need for ANY instrument to have "Total Integration". All the problems the TI has had show that it's simply not worth the hassle. A VSTi interface controlled through USB is useful, but having the audio go through USB as well just complicates things WAY too much. The only nice part is that you don't need all the cables or a decent audio interface. Maybe that's what they had in mind, though.

I can't see that being the issue as all I wanted to see was seperately openeable VST wrappers, not more audio coming down the cable. You can still theoretically run 16 channels of audio from the virus but I found the single VST wrapper frustrating as I couldn't do exactly what I wanted with each and every channel. Inevitably if I used more than the 4 available audio outs via USB then channels had to be doubled up.

I really think that if DAWs got their act together and allowed support of multiple audio interfaces (STABLY!) at a time, then instrument makers could just send out the audio over USB and not have to worry about making their own interfaces and stuff. I think Access was simply being too ambitious and in the end stuffed up hugely.

The windows environment just does not allow or support that (unless you use asio4all). Mac is capable of doing this natively.

Some devices allow multiple interfaces to be accessed as if it is one device. I think the Audiofire soundcards do .

I know all that. But I think we need a new type of device driver. ASIO is shit.
