shit happens? poor guy?

With friends and family (and doggie), listening to trance, and eating vast amounts of fruit. Oh and wearing a super hot dress that just so happens to be really incredibly comfortable.

Now when you all say fucking. Here is the real question. Do you finish just before the world ends? or Do you keep going and go out in style?

actually there's lots of things to say and think about. how come nobody wanted to help him? nobody cares or were people afraid to be sued if they hurt him whilst helping.
and so on.
shit happens?? when you put your favourite skirt on and then spill some wine moments before going out, imo, is definition of "shit happens".
a person gasping for breath on a sidewalk while others pass by like nothing is going on, on the other hand....

ok so?
I mean it's pretty horrible that this kind of a thing happens in a broad daylight, agreed
but what can we do? all I can say is I hope none of us here find ourselves stepping over an elderly like that
apart from that not much more can be said or done..
Posted by Xavier Moriarty on Dec-29-2009 22:48:
meh, forget it.

I asked my friend this question in high school - only it was for the last day on earth.
his answer was "lootin' and rapin'"

exactly what i was thinking.
who the fuck walks by an old man, obviously struggling like that? it really freaks me out how desensitized people are. Someone could have stopped to help him up, or call 911 and some kid would still have a grandpa.
Sick.

see that's my point
so 10 of us would have said the same thing
but in reality our actions should speak for words - so like I said, hopefully we will never find ourselves doing the same crap as peeps in the article
reminded me of that guy who died of a heart-attack in my building - only the EMS were being assholes, not the rest of the tenants

i went back and read your post, which i had skipped over before.
and i agree
but at the same time .. this kind of stuff is what i mean whenever someone rambles about celebrities. this guy gets an 'awe shit, that sucks' but big name stars that usually kills themselves [accidentally or not] get huge pity parties.

but if 10 of us turns a blind eye on a article in a newspaper, its gonna be like it never happened.
the ugly is starting to outweight good, people are way to occupied with their own stuff to pause and just think, if not help, about horrors of everyday life.
im not looking for "awwwwwww poor guy"'s or anything like that, im simply making a note of how fucked up is the fact that 95% or people replying to this thread didnt even take a sec to read that article. first thing on their mind was "oh, i have a funny/naughty/weird thing to say". its mindnumbingly scary.
95% of people in here.... fuck, thats probably 75% of people in real world who dont care.
thats a scary though and that should change.

or its maybe just me.

dude I'd help an elderly guy/lady in a heartbeat
I don't need to read articles like that to push me to do anything
I read the article, but I answered your question...

More like we've become desensitized to news reports because more than half of them are sensationalized or made up. I don't know, I'm just not buying it. I mean hell, if I'm just biking down the Don River and stop to check one of the tires I get like 5 passers-by asking if I need any help.
Most people are idiots but most people are also decent human beings. Maybe this was a bad part of town with a lot of panhandling and people tragically, but unintentionally mistook him for one of the same; it's a plausible explanation especially if he was mentally handicapped. And there's no specifics about the timing either; we're led to believe that he was lying there crying for help for a good half hour when it's entirely possible that this sequence of events all happened within 20 seconds.
I hate emotionally-charged sob stories like these. For every one genuine revelation of humanity's dark side there are 50 fabricated tear-jerkers capitalizing on human guilt and outrage. Maybe it's as bad as the picture that's been painted, or even worse, I don't know, but without facts I'm not gonna go a big rubbery one.

Who's turning a blind eye? Having a reaction to an article won't change things. One has to lead by example instead of pointing fingers and letting your emotions get out of control. So people are dicks, no news there. I honestly don't even give a fuck anymore. I know that I would help that person. I know that just about anyone else I know would help that person. Can't expect the same out of everyone.
